Actually, one of more intriguing matchups is the battle for the beer barrel. But that's just my opinion.
Kentucky hasn't beaten Vol 2 years runnin' since 1977. The fighting Jeremy Fulmer's admitted they were looking past the Charlotte Juggernaut towards de Cats. Will it payoff?
What else I think makes this game more interesting is we'll get a chance to see just how good a coach is Bob, er uh, Mike, er uh, Mark Stoops is. Will Benny re-emerge from his Snell (see what I did there?). Or will his team come out flat? And, after all, Tennessee took it to Auburn, eh? To me, this game is window into the future. Will UK fold it up after all the emotion of the past few weeks? Or will they rise up and not a pull a Mizzou Mullen. And that's what make it so much fun to watch IMO. I like peering into other people's windows - and I have the restraining orders to prove it.
I simply don't see this match being a run away for either team though. So, just who comes out on top is anyone's guess. I'll lay some real live Tony Barnhardt-esque conventional wisdom on you here....the team that scores the most points will win this game! Will it be a track meet or a low scoring one?
I hate to say this, BELIEVE me I do but I don't see anyone beating Bana. If my Wolverines can stay in this they will likely play Bama and I don't see Meeechigan winning that. I'd say Georgia or Clemson would give them a good shot but Georgia will have two beat them twice. Doubt that will happen.

I think Mississippi State can give Bama a game. 25 points? Again, seems like too much.
I was trying to figure this one out as well. MSU O has been mega disappointment this year and Fitzgerald hasn't been able to do anything on O...until aTm and LaTech. Those Ds provide the kind of relief MSU needed, Bama will not. Note this is the same team that 201 and 202 yards vs UK and UF and couldn't do much vs LSU just 3 games ago.
So how can they move it or score on Bama when we just saw LSU not do anything?
MSU does seem to have some confidence on that side of the ball right now they lacked before. Can they carry that over and execute better than LSU?
I will give their O a better chance than LSU. Fitz can atleast make some plays running which brings something to the table Borrow didn't last week.
Let's assume that MSU D can duplicate something similar to what LSU D did. Saying maybe they can hold Bama to 31-37 pts? Maybe, perhaps?
If that is the case MSU would need just 7-13 pts to cover.
Might be overly optimistic. MSU D is good. Alabama fans will tell you that. Not sure anyone is going to hold them to less than LSU did last week though. MSU would have to control TOP like 2:1 for that to happen.
Ceiling for MSU O is probably 17 and I imagine would be under the absolute optimum best case scenarios.

I think some people have overreacted a little too much from the Charlotte result. 14-3 is inexcusable, however, don't laugh, Charlotte has some D ,held MTSU to like 144y. This past month 49ers been playing some D now. Think UT was without Chandler and Jennings, mabye they rested some other players too I don't know. UT was in a predictable flat spot last week. I think they play as hard as they can this week, question is will that be enough? Played respectable vs UGA and SC. Beat Auburn with Garantano playing out of his mind with those throws in that game.
UK is hard to judge their mindset. Really long stretch of emotional games. Even if we limit to just looking how the Mizzou game ended and the hype and now disappointment around the UGA game, can they bring up their game for this one to that level they previously have?
Cats love nothing more than to beat UT so that leads me to believe they will/should be pretty up for it.
Is Stoops really > than Pruitt?
UK is a good team, no doubt. They are good. They proved it time and time again. But they haven't scored more than 20 pts in a month. Didn't run a play in aTm territory in regulation. Only managed a FG vs Mizzou through 3 qrts. I'm just saying...they are good but they have some weakness. How will UT match up vs those weaknesses?
I agree, good window to look into.
Since you are here Chris...how bout them Auburn Tigers this week. Maybe Stidham will just throw it 60x, probably the only chance they stand. Auburn D should make you work for it though.
i think Vandy can beat Mizzou this week. Big dog, would pay 664 on a 100.
Kind of like KU vs KSt in the Sunflower state showdown, even with the Beatty firing.
ECU could upset Tulane.
Strat, how about your Bruins this week? Fix those special teams issues from last week and that Oregon game wasn't that lopsided. ASU can be run on.
Big game for the ACC Coastal this week VT at Pitt. I don't believe Clemson has ever beat Pitt 😉 @ DanB
The ACC? Do they still have a conference? There are teams from smaller conferences that can beat some of the ACC teams. I think MAC teams could. Buffalo could probably give a few of them a run for their money.

Funny you mention Buffalo. I'm here for the game. 7:30
Buffalo is good. But I think the only ACC team I would pick them to beat is LV. Maybe on the right day they could beat UNC. Now with the spread I'd bet them to play respectable vs a bunch.

0-2 I was 9 years old when a Tony Dorsett lead team destroyed CU 34-3 in the '77 Gator Bowl

Ironic! Kind of surprised they aren't ranked. They do get a lot of TV exposure for a mid major. Seems like they are on every week because of the mid week games.
I keep winning $ betting on them. Becoming a fan!

It should always be taken seriously. But, I don't think there is any doubt the Gus Bus empties the playbook this weekend.

Ooh...that's a tall one there big 'un. I actually think Mizzou's wake up call came against Kentucky. I'm sort of glad we've already played 'em. Vandy should have beaten Florida AND Kentucky. But they do what Vandy does best which is, just Vandy being Vandy. You might want to rethink this one Amigo!
Yeah Buffalo has a nice thing going. Some key pieces on O and D that makes them a good group of 5 team.
With Ohio getting their ass kicked at Miami right now, unless that changes the East is about to be theirs! Or else they can earn it next week when they play Ohio.
Went to the original Anchor Bar downtown. Had some wings at Duffs also. That is what you are supposed to do in Buffalo, eat wings right? No problem for me, wings are one of my primary food groups. The suicide sauce at Anchor Bar was delicious!

OK, will dig deeper.
Anchor Bar wings were actually as good as advertised..............

So coot, you been playing any games this year?
A few. Have had a buddy play some games that I really liked, Alabama last week for one. Have been on Iowa State in a couple of spots. Not nearly as active as past years.
I do follow the Stanford Steve & The Bear podcast on ESPN Radio. SS has been unbelievably hot this year, something like 33-11 ATS.

Now that I mention that, he'll probably crater. 😉

Normally, this might be a letdown possibility for the Tide. I don't think so though.
MSU may be stout on defense but I think they're going to be on the field a lot. I just don't see how MSU generates any offense. Fitzgerald is just a horrible passer. And his time and time again QB draws etc. just won't work against a superlative defense. The only way Fitzgerald could successfully pass a football is if he somehow managed to swallow it first.
MSU could very well be the Tide's second shutout in a row and I don't see how they could possibly score more than 10. I think the Tide covers this one easily.

I don't know why but I'll take that bet.
I detest Alabama that much.

Fitz is going to have to put the entire state of Mississippi on his back just to keep it close.
Remember last year Alabama LBs were decimated by injury for the MSU game. I'm not talking their 2nd string can start anywhere, I think they were down like 5 of their top 6. It really showed in that game last year.
Much respect for Alabama, they deserve all the praise. I'm hoping for a competitive game. I think it is what we all want. Even most Alabama fans would tell you I think they would like to see how this team responds to some adversity because they haven't had any yet. Best to find out now than in perhaps the SEC Title or playoff game.
I don't know why but I'll take that bet.

As do I, but as I said, a big goose egg for MSU. Not an easy cover but a cover nonetheless.
Plus, the Huskers cover giving up 35.

I'm looking forward to the next Nebraska win over Michigan State this week....or is this Husker D so bad that even MSU will be able to score on them?
Mississippi State had a TD taken off the board twice. The delay of game was on them. The phantom block in the back as the receiver crossed the goal line, well that was some home cooking.
Northwestern wins the B1G West!!
I hate rematches so instead of wanting Michigan to beat Ohio St in 2 weeks I guess I will have to want Ohio State to win now.
Bobby Petrino fired! Jeff Brohm's phone is going to be ringing. Hate it for Purdue, would've loved him to stay there.
Clay Helton will be fired soon too.

I dunno. Michigan State is not as bad as Nebraska. Be interesting to see the spread. I don't think it matters that the game is in Lincoln.
