Great Lee, glad you are in!
The deadline technically would be 5+ minutes before the kickoff of the first game. However, I believe you can sign up for the yahoo sports leagues during the season, and since we drop everyone's single worst week, it is possible that somebody could sign up for week 2 and play it out from there with week 1 being their dropped week. Not 100% sure on that, but I think yahoo let's people join after the season.
But at this point we have most of our regulars and we've atleast heard form oldcoot and sang on their intentions. I did email Alan, so hopefully he will join as he has always been in the leagues. Then we can find one more for a dozen!
There are always alot of games to pick the first 2 weeks because so many teams play their fcs/IAA nonconference opponents. Those games do not have point spreads, just pick the winner. Sometimes those IAA boys beat their IA counterparts. I think I was the only one who picked James Madison to beat ECU last year. NCSt is a tougher foe for them this year and I haven't read up on JMU yet this season.
What games do you all plan to make it to this year?
I only make 1 a year, some off the radar game usually.
This year we are going to Morgantown for the Baylor - WVU game Thursday night! We may also go to a Buffalo Bulls home game on some MACtion night in November.

So the lines that are currently off won't have a line?

Dan always hates South Carolina. So does our friend hoffcl, he used to call them "the team from the state under North Carolina". One is a Clemson fan (going for 5 straight over SC this year) and the other is a Georgia fan (the last in the series 3 Georgia has won by 14 or more).
I think SC can be good, but they were 9-4 last year, just 5-3 in the SEC. How much better can they be? They were 6-1 in one score games last year and won 3 games in which they were outgained in yardage. So SC may have to be improved this year just to go 5-3 in the league again. Don't forget SC has lost 4 straight to UK!!!
Everyone knows that Muschamp teams can typically play some D, it's just the O on his watch never pulls their weight.
Yeah, but isn't the scoop on that team supposed to be offense this year?
What I love about us, the good guys, playing them this year is that so many people are saying they will beat us. So, this game isn't going to slip up on us - the good guys.

Yahoo never does point spreads for games involving FCS/IAA teams. So those will still say 'off' Friday. Otherwise they put the line off if there is some injury, weather or other issue where books are unsure of line adjustment. I don't know what source yahoo uses. Just know that whatever the Friday spread is on there will be the official and final number for right/wrong picks.

Alright Chris is in house tonight too!
I recall Muschamp saying he wish he had OC Roper earlier at Florida, now he is the scapegoat for last season's O issues.
They say the O is supposed to be better. Not knowing any philosophical changes, I would say it should because I believe there is potential there. Then again Will has only had a decent O once in 6 years as a head coach so something with him could be constraining his offenses. Bentley is fine but I have yet to see him really develop, may be it will happen this year, maybe it can't happen. Just hope Deebo can stay healthy because he is fun!
Yeah, I've heard so many people on that SC team week 2. But you have to love that right? It adds to the game, not just that gamecock fans are running their mouth, but there seems to be Georgia doubters all over. Georgia is only going to get better and better and better. So if SC is going to get you, this is probably their best chance.
What a great opening weekend. Four games with ranked opposing teams. Awesome.
Michigan / Notre Dame
Washington / Auburn
Miami / LSU
Virginia Tech / Florida State
Also looking forward to the Northwestern / Purdue game tomorrow night.
Let the games begin!

I just heard about the GA doubters from a bud at lunch. USC fans have been focused on this yrs Clemson game for many months since they touted that 5 in a row thing to no end themselves. They focus much more on hate for Clem that supporting usc.

This time tomorrow we will be watching college football!!!!
I’m trying to get up to speed on what’s happening with teams this yr. I haven’t checked out any previews. Still excited just the same.

Most everyone here has a team, or conference or region they follow. Pretty easy to pick up on most o of the time.
Who's your team? ACC, SEC?
I live in NE Ohio. Grew up a Nebraska fan in the late 80s and 90s. Lost touch with them when they fired Solich and never reconnected. Just can't recreate some things. Now I just try and follow every team, literally. Every team can be my favorite team on any given week. I just love college football!
Lots of fans here to, although with everything else on the forum the activity isn't what it used to be.
I'm glad you are joining us.
I live an hr from USC and about the same from Clemson so no shortage of info on those. I just haven’t read up and gotten in the groove yet. I generally support my home state teams. I went to a tech school so I haven’t any strong allegiance to any of em. We had a softball team but I’ve never seen odds on their games. 😉
Thank you for the invite and welcome, it’s gonna be a fun time.

I've bled Bruin Blue and Gold since I was 9. I've attended games from Seattle to Annapolis and many points in between and not just UCLA games. Over the years, I've adopted other teams. My current ones are Northwestern (Pat Fitzgerald is the most under-rated coach in the country), Colorado (can't ask for a better location to see a football game) Auburn (I like the town, the colors, and the fans).
Programs I want to see go 0-12 are BYU and kal. I find BYU arrogant and kal's fans pathetic.
Can't beat college football tailgating either. It is the best and for many times over the last 20 seasons, the tailgate has been the highlight of Bruin football.
Hopefully CCK takes UCLA to The Promised Land one day. We'll see. GO BRUINS!
Last night was fun. Enjoyed the NW-Pur game. Wish I had enjoyed the WF-Tulane game a little more with Wave losing in OT. Alot of failed opportunities for Wave in that one, but WF was better team. Really impressed with the true FR QB for WF Hartman playing his first ever live snaps of college football. Watched some Kennesaw - Georgia State game along with the SE Louisiana and ULM game. Those were some pretty good ones.
Nice little slate of games tonight. Can't wait!
Looking to see how CSU rebounds in their second game vs CU in the Rocky Mountain Showdown. I'm expecting CSU to really bring it tonight, think they are good value getting over a TD.
Michigan State should be really good this year, although I can't help it, I am kind of a Utah State fan too. Really tough game for the Aggies here, think they have a nice little team this season, will be interested to see how much they can challenge MSU.
Expect Cuse to win at WMich. Love P5 teams going to these small school stadiums. Think WM will have a really nice running game, but that is about all they have. If Cuse can load up to stop it I don;t believe WM has it through the air or in the D to win. Really like Eric Dungey's game for Cuse as well.
Army - Duke and San Diego State - Stanford definitely have my attention as well.
It's going to be a good night!
5 games tonight on the pick'em. Still time for anyone to sign up!!!
I have seven out of eight correct in my pool that really matters ($$$) so I am happy at the moment.
Today should be fun. Supposed to be hot, humid and rainy here in Chicago so while not really football weather, I'll take it. Wouldn't mind tailgaiting though!
GO BLUE!

Typical September day here in So Cal. Off to friends this afternoon for all things football. GO BRUINS!
I’ve got Michigan in my other pick. Nice day to start a season.
I generally like Michigan State but when I saw that Utah State had a shot at the upset I was rooting for them. The fans at that game got there moneys worth.
It's going to be a long season for the Bruins. UCLA visits Oklahoma next Saturday... 🙁
It was a fun opening day. Texas didn’t cover so meh...
Washington shot themselves in the foot on three occasions but some of the calls or missed calls going Auburns way could have been evened out a bit.
Why are there no kickoff classic games outside the southeast? The "neutral site" is a bit of a stretch when game is an hours drive or less from the state of ALabama.
Ducks!!!!
I agree on the neutral site thing, having it in someone's backyard makes it worse. I like home-and-home better, but that is where the money is...lots of money on those neutral site games.
Why all in the south...maybe because it just means more?
The people that put those games together likely just consider where they will get the best turnout, where the highest concentration of fans willing to come to the games reside. Would be great to see some games like that outwest, but the PAC12 can't fill their stadium in the title games. PAC12 teams don't fill neutral site stadiums the way SEC teams do.
So week 1 in the books, what did you all think?
I had nice Thursday, Friday and Mondays. Saturday wasn't as fun as I had hoped, but even the worst day of college football is better than...just about every other day!

I thought that was a fun game to watch. A few mistakes but entertaining nonetheless.

Might go to the Northwestern / Duke game Saturday morning / afternoon. Hard to beat two bucks for a ticket and I don't think I will be missing much on TV that afternoon. No early games I really care about.

College GameDay Sign of the Week..."Jesus Hates Khakis"
Speaking of, Harbaugh is...underwhelming so far in his tenure in Ann Arbor. Just IMO.
Oklahoma looked fantastic!
Out here on the fruited plain...K-State let South Dakota hang around way too long and almost paid the price. Not a good look with Mississippi State coming into Manhattan this weekend.
Kansas...close the program. Shut it down. I've been giving grief to Jayhawks around me all week. If they can't get some of the basketball money and the wealthy alumni (of which there are several) to replace that dump of a stadium and repair that dump of a program then they should all be publicly ridiculed for thinking they are anywhere close to being a true Power 5 school.
Penn State...see K-State.
Miami...never left the locker room, was a little surprising. LSU remains an unknown, though.
Saban didn't really need to snap at that reporter, did he?
I didn't think that Ohio State would really cover, but those are some bad Beavers, apparently.
I like the above summary. I hope things go better this week. Maybe I won’t nap as much and can get involved.

If it's close by, WTH. NW is a good squad that has a good coach. Duke has improved under David Cutliff. It should be an entertaining game.
