YES!

More pumped up for this season than in a long time...FINALLY, no realignment drama, no who should get paid drama, just a straight-up season!

Compelling matchups in Week 1. Getting off to a good start is always important and some teams have some challenges.

South Carolina vs North Carolina - UNC have become a team to be taken seriously. The Gamecocks, well, sometimes you just never know what you are gonna get.

Michigan vs Utah - The Harbaugh Era begins on the road in Salt Lake City. I'd take the Utes and the points here. Michigan always gets some measure of respect from pollsters and oddsmakers just because they are Michigan, but methinks the Wolverines are gonna be brutal this year.

Penn St vs Temple - Why is the spread only 6.5? Bookies know something we don't?

BYU vs Nebraska - Talk about a contrast in styles!

Arizona St vs Texas A&M - Excellent opening test for both squads. This is the kinda loss that can haunt you come bowl time.

Texas vs Notre Dame - Lotsa questions here. Will Charlie Strong get Texas out of entitlement mode and get the Longhorns to actually play and fight for wins? Is Notre Dame still Notre Dame? Have they not been for a while? Will they ever be again?

Wisconsin vs Alabama (Cowboy Stadium) - This could go all kinds of ways, but needless to say, if the Badgers can upset the Tide right off the bat...I'd still take Bama, though.

Eastern Washington vs Oregon - I'd bet the Ducks to cover that spread and more.

Ohio State vs Virginia Tech - A serious road test for the Buckeyes, another team that can't afford a stumble out of the gate.

BRING IT ON!

I like alot of the week 1 games naturally.

One near the top of my list is Stanford at Northwestern. Hard to believe that with all the momentum Coach Fitz has built up peaking with the bowl win over Miss St in 2012 that now they have had back-to-back losing seasons! This may be their best D since 2008 (won 9 games that year led by the D).

Stanford is just tough as nails, even in a down year like last season at 8-5, 3 of their loses came by a 3 pts in tight games. Ty Montgomery was so huge at WR and kick return last year it is hard to imagine them without him. QB Hogan will have to be his best this year. The D loses some key players, but you know they will be tough.

Huge statement game for NW and they can show up in these spots even when overmatched. See 2013 vs Ohio St (lost 30-40 after keeping it close all game). Handed Wisconsin 1 of their 3 losses last year and also beat Notre Dame on the road as a 17 pt underdog.

Go Cats!

If Hackenburg gets some help from the OL this year I think Penn St can be pretty good. 9 wins would be the absolute ceiling, probably more like 8-4. 7-5 would be disappointing.

While PSU could possibly open up 6-0, they will probably drop one of those first 6 and realistically it could be Temple.

Temple is up off the mat once again. In last season's opener they beat a Vanderbilt team that was just off back-to-back 9 win seasons and 2 bowl wins.

Temple's D is legit and their front 7 has potential to cause Penn St problems who couldn't pass block or establish a running game to save their life last year. Temple's D honestly will probably be the best Penn St sees until they travel to Columbus Oct 10th.

Here is a name to watch. Tyler Matakevich, LB for Temple. Kid is an absolute beast!

Too unsure of QB situation.

Jake Coker had a "minor foot injury" early in the summer. He's pampering it a little - working with a trainer - should be 90-95% whole by the Wisconsin game. Rest assured that Saban and company have been redesigning the offense around Coker's passing arm. Look for some big improvements to Bama's defense - especially in the secondary! 😉

Wisconsin will be ready to play, though!

I would be surprised if Wisconsin can compete vs Alabama. I'd lay it, but admittedly I don't really trust Coker at this point, never given any reason to trust him. Maybe it is actually an open QB competition and he won't be good enough to win it again?

I don't know. I'm not very high on this Wisconsin team more than anything else has me leaning Bama there.

Right On Nebish! Thanks for stepping up to the plate.

Visited UCLA's practice last Saturday. The Bruins have legit depth all around especially at WR, RB and on Defense. For the first time in what feels like eons, we won't have to start a freshman on the OL.

As usual, it will come down to QB. I wish Josh Rosen was a redshirt freshman but he has the skills to get the job done. That being said, Jerry Neuheisel has been making noise. The bottom line is the QBs have lots of playmakers. Just get them the ball without screwing it up.

My bet is UCLA plays for the conference championship. That being said, the Bruins HAVE to beat Stanford no ifs, ands, or buts. If UCLA goes 1-11 and the one win is against the Cardinal, GO BRUINS!

To all things college football this season! Enjoy! Cool

Two significant players won't be on the field in Lincoln.

BYU RB Jamal Williams [1200+y 2013, #1 rusher 2014 with just 500+ (inj - out for year)].

Also, dual-threat QB Tayson Hill will be taking the field for the first time since major knee ligament tears sidelined him in game 5 last year.

BYU's September schedule is pretty brutal (at Neb, Boise, at UCLA, at Michigan), it is critical they get off to a positive start.

Nebraska #2 returning WR and punt return extraordinaire De'Mornay Pierson-El out 6-8 weeks.

Nebraska also has 4 or 5 players with 1 supposedly a starting defensive player suspended for week 1.

Quite a challenging game to open the Mike Riley regime. Huskers have not lost a home opener since 1985!

Good to see the usual suspects and old friends in the pick'em.

We are missing a few though.

Leafsfan? Forgone conclusion for everyone Ducks lose to MSU week 2, I'm not so sure. Oregon will give them all they can handle.
oldcoot? Who is going to be playing LB vs BYU week 1? Give me the Cougs.
Bhawk? What's with all this Baylor and TCU talk...this is OU's conference isn't it?
fast43? Cats making a bowl this year? I think so.
alloak41 and rusty? We need some representatives for SEC's best team don't we?

Who am I missing?

The point spreads should show up.

I am in another yahoo pick'em using the spread and they haven't posted any lines for that league either. Yahoo is a little slow at times.

Keep checking back to the league. Between now and Friday they will put up point spreads.
