Just watched an interview with Colin Powell, former Secretary Of State, former Chairman Of The Chief Joints Of Staff, & someone with a mile long military background / resume.

Interesting in that as member of the GOP, he thought the Iran Deal was a "good deal" and intelligently articulated his reasons. Believe it or not, and in spite of his expertise in this area, he would be in opposition to those seeking political gains from opposition. He would also be in opposition to the conservative experts on this site who certainly must know more than he does.

He also talked about the elements of intolerance in the GOP. What on earth is he talking about?

Would you expect something different from Powell? Do his comments surprise you? They shouldn't.

You are correct.

His statements don't surprise me. He is a man with significant experience in the fields of the military, world affairs, & leadership. In addition, he is an individual of compassion. His skills far exceed most of what might be considered current day leadership of the GOP. He doesn't need to make statements to pander, to incite fear, nor to win votes. I would respect his opinion and immense knowledge over any politician today.

Can you imagine a discussion of military intervention & foreign affairs between Colin Powell and _______ fill in the blank (Trump, Cruz, Walker, Jeb, Fiorina, etc., etc., etc.)? I'm waiting to see Trump take pot shots at Powell, as Trump is an equal opportunity offender.

Experienced military officers are usually the strongest advocates for finding peaceful solutions to situations.

And you say this because you factually know more than he does on issues that you claim he "sold out"? Why don't you share your resume / background of expertise so we can gauge your credibility next to that of Colin Powell.

I never felt Powell lacked credibility on some issues (i.e. military operations), but as soon as he endorsed Obama that was it for me. I had always been suspect of his level of conservatism and
that pretty much sealed the deal. He's a sellout.

Who did he "sell out" to, and what did he get in return?

He endorsed Obama as president. He is hardly a member of the GOP in any meaningful sense anymore. It is quite rich that the vast majority who oppose the capitulation are accused of seeking "political gain" while all the weasles who would OBVIOUSLY vote against if it were being proposed by a Republican are not. The opposition is bi-partisan. Those in favor are all Obama minions.

After being around bush, cheney, rumsfeld etc. he witnessed:gross incompetence, evil, and stupidity in the g.o.p, and being an honorable man, he resigned and ran from those scumbags. YOU doug do not have this country's best interests at heart, but the best interests of another. you should go there NOW.

I'd agree with that.

israel is our bastard "anchor baby" in the Middle East.

So you resent him for being intelligent?.

No question he's intelligent. But maybe he got himself all caught up in the Hope-and-Change-and-Spread-the-Wealth-Around jive......It happens. However, after riding GOP coattails to immense personal gain he wound up a sellout and a bridge burner.

You are just like Obama. Human garbage who rather than argues on the merits attacks the motives of those who disagree with you. Go to hell and we are done.
