Another convenient school shooting
I propose a BAN that should make schools a safer place.
BAN "Gun Free Zone" designations of schools.
When I was in high school many of us had firearms with us, mostly during hunting season. It wasn't unusual to see a truck parked in the lots with gun racks in the back window, usually with a rifle and a shotgun.
During hunting seasons you could often see firearms in the corner behind the teacher's desk where they were brought in by students and left so they wouldn't have to carry them around during class breaks.Think of this, how often did school shootings occur before they began being designate "gun free"?
This is rediculous. This year we have had three TEACHERS accidently fire a gun on campus, one of which injured a student. That teacher was a firearms safety instructor.
Just wondering if back in your school days did any students bring an AR-15 to class so they could go hunting after school?
I don't remember if there were any AR-15's brought to school, but they could have. The AR-15 was developed for civilian use, and was first sold on January 2, 1964 as the Model R6000 Colt AR-15 SP1 Sporter Rifle.
The M-16, BASED ON THE AR-10, was issued to troops for test purposes in mid 1965 (XM16E1), and went into service in 1969 to replace the M-14. There had been over 15,000 AR-15s sold to the public before the M-16 saw service 5 years later.
The AR-15 is not a "military style weapon", it was developed for civilian use first..
If someone wants to kill, they will and there is nothing that can be done about it.
True. And Conservatives want to enable maximum body count thru minimum legislation.
Legislation cannot change the mind of someone who wants to kill.
Try to remember your quote here next time you decide to make one of your stupid posts on abortion.
The mass murder of babies (abortion), so beloved by the left, has nothing to do with this thread.
Specifically, what “gun control” or other whiny-a$$ legislation do you believe would have any effect in stopping gun violence?
Come on big mouth, put up or shut up.
Nebish had a post with some good ideas. Maybe you should search for his post.
"whiny ass legislation"
You know, that is some shit there.
I will admit, I am not always the most compassionate person. I don't always give a fuck about this or that.
But how can you not be taken to tears when you see innocent American civilians, kids, law enforcement, people in our workforce gunned down and their grieving families in front of us and you act like it is fantasy.
I am a gun guy. I buy guns, I have a CCW permit. And I think I have a realistic view on this.
Yes, the person pulling the trigger is the problem. So is the method they are using to carry out their killing. Sure, if it wasn't a gun, it could've been something else. That is just the point. Let's make it harder on these killers to fulfill their murderous killing. Make if more difficult for them to use or obtain their chosen weapon and test their resolve to carry out their attacks. And perhaps we get less lethal attacks as a result with more people in the ER instead of the morgue. I will jump through more hoops. I will submit to more red tape. I will allow my local, state or federal law enforcement agencies to look deeper into my background.
We need to better identify where the threats are coming from and we need to get as much data as possible into the state/federal background check system to potentially reject the wrong people from legally buying firearms. Might not have prevented this most recent attack, but the more we vet and verify gun buyers the more we try to weed out the bad apples...I don't care if you are white, male, female, black, immigrant, or whatever religion. We need more data to cross check gun owners and buyers.

Why don't you tell us? And can you confirm if each crime scene was definitely "gun free"? How come you never answered my question about how your proposal would stop a mass shooting? If a teenager in body armour and an AR-15 walks into a school, how would a hunting rifle in the corner of a classroom prevent the attacker from killing a student or teacher? Please describe this scenario.

"Teenager"
But the problem is guns.

I never once stated that I believe guns are the problem. You must have me confused with someone else.

Yes, that is it!
LOL
Let me break my consistent position down for you in simpler terms so you can comprehend:
Pistols, shotguns, and hunting rifles are not the problem IMO. The 2nd Amendment is not the problem IMO. The problem is the ease of access to people who are not competent and responsible. The only issue I have with the object is the high-powered rifles like the AK-47. I do not believe civilians should have access to such a weapon. If you interpret this as me saying “guns are the problem”, I’ll just assume you have a low IQ and move on.
Amazing how jaded our society has become to school shootings.
Dead kids=meh
For sure. Soul death.
