Zakk Wylde- Dec. 12 - 2015- "Whipping Post"

Complete garbage.......making noise is not the same as making music.....at least not to me

Thanks for posting. I heard Zakk did this at the benefit for Tony Macalpine with others . Any other ABB songs?
At the 11:40 min mark they kick into Mountains "Never in My Life"
To each his own on this, I liked it . It may not be your type of music or what the ABB version is like
but Zakk has been influenced by the Bros and this is his interpretation . Artist over the years ,and the ABB also, have covered others music and put some of they're identity on it, its natural to do that it most cases.
You have VERY WELL SKILLED MUSICIANS in Wylde,Sheehan,Portnoy and Derek Sherinian playing this tune, IMHO, not garbage.
Starting at the 7 min mark Derek has a nice little organ solo then Sheehan kicks in after him.
Nuno Bettencourt & Billy Sheehan perform Van Halen's Mean Streets & Hot For Teacher
Here is the full show.
If you are not familar with John 5 he opens the show. He can really work the guitar.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

It's also tailored to what that audience is looking for I'd guess? Would be fun if you were there? I'd have enjoyed it anyway. Listening through my pc, not so much.

Zakk did It's Not My Cross To Bear too. Like Whipping Post it rocked hard.
I found that a bit boring , lacked soul and feeling like when Gregg sings it , just my opinion .

Pre-Internet this would just have been a cool night where some guys got together and jammed.

I like Zakk - great player, funny guy. However, in instances like this benefit, he suffers (like a lot of us) from a bad tone. That ultra high gain overdriven sound just doesn't work everywhere. There is another clip somewhere of him playing with Eric Johnson that is similar. Zakk has written some great stuff and recorded some great tunes. His wide vibrato and fast linked up pentatonic boxes are his signature. Next time I'd love to hear him play through a Fender Deluxe sans effects.

Not a fan of him
