Elvin --- and I've only heard the the version produced from one the albums but I love the fantastic, slow build up to a soaring finish.

Also love Sierra Leone from one of the records. Really hauntingly familiar tune to me.

Did DTB play either one of those live?

Really liked him on My Favorite Things.

Was solid on True Gravity.

Don't remember which song or even if it was a instrumental but he nas a solo on the Soul Serenade DTB album that is very nice

Always loved Les Brers In A Minor from Wanee 2007 (Instant Live). And I couldn't even count all the great stuff on The Derek Trucks Band's Soul Serenade. Several have mentioned tunes from it in this thread already.

so, so many

in the end, if I only had to hear one, it would be Sahib Teri Bandi

That guy with the beard is not Derek Trucks... but Sahib was my favorite as well.

The only person I ever heard of covering the song was Jerry Douglas. Would love to hear a recording of that, but even better would be to see the two of them perform it live.

With the ABB? I'd have to say Egypt, and to a lesser extent Bag End, if only because Derek helped create those tunes. He wasn't just following in somebody else's footsteps. I also happen to like those songs quite a bit more than most people, especially Egypt, which SHOULD have become their new centerpiece instrumental. Bag End is no slouch either.

Of the classic ABB instrumentals, Kind Of Bird from 3/15/10 was probably the single best thing that lineup ever played, and Derek's solo in particular is spectacular.

With the Derek Trucks Band, I'd have to go with Maki Madni and/or Sahib Teri Bandi. I've always loved when Derek plays in that Eastern tonality.

BTW someone asked when that video was posted previously... I think the recording is from Live at the Georgia Theater.

I love "Bock to Bock."

Recently I've been enjoying DTB show from Hartford 2002 with Jimmy H guest starring, but I can't pick a fave.

I have several live dTb shows and none have Sierra Leone on them but I have no idea if they did or didn't play it live.

I totally agree with you about that song. It is beautiful. And for some reason it fits well on the CD. Has a nice Eastern sound to it.

Very hard to settle, but this is the video that came to mind, it qualifies as an instrumental because they have Mattison muted - ha.

Chevrolet - in studio
