WSJ article: Bars also mourn the loss of ABB

Allman Brothers Band fans aren't the only ones who are sad.
The end of the Beacon run is bad news for UWS bars:
My story in The Wall Street Journal.

Hey Alan, nice touch on the Ale House mention. Tal will be very pleased.
Maybe we will cross paths on the weekend.

Terrific piece, Alan. Love hearing about the impact of the brothers outside the normal realm.

I'm really glad you mentioned Zabar's! Chocolate rugelach from Zabar's, for me, is part of the tradition.

Interesting comment from the Beacon Hotel people.
Several years back they made it clear we weren't welcome there any more.
I guess the money talked.

Very nice, interesting write-up Al. I had no idea the Beacon run did that for the locals. Being on the West Coast, I've only made it there once...........2002 for two nights.

Reader comment below Alan's fine article:
"I've passed by the Beacon Theater a few times when the audience was lined up to see the Alman Brothers. Nice assortments of pony tailed, bald fat guys."
Hey, I was one of those guys!
And griff, the Dublin House is great! I didn't discover it until Yogi's closed, but it is a fine place to hang out.
