Willie Nelson @Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY 8/12/15

I went to see Willie Nelson at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn. Nice venue, Great park. I love Willie and appreciate that he's still touring and bringing his musical product to us. I arrived early and camped out deep near a tree in the back and used it's tree roots as a base for the tripod. I was a little further back than I wanted to be and maxed out the zoom from my distance. It also magnifies any movement. It's not the best capture of the Gent, but it's something reflective of his work. It's really a brother sister act with some harp tossed in. He is aging and pauses for breath in spots, but some of his pauses are just his representation of style. Willie will never be questioned for lack of originality, He's National Treasure himself. Old Crow Medicine show opened and I didn't grab the 1st tune, but got the rest. They were fun hopping band with some nice musicianship on display. I have to go through and figure out the song titles. They'll be unlocked in the future. Here's Willie's set.

Part of the night is the ride out there, I live in Northern NJ and my favorite route is the George to the West Side Hwy (Henry Hudson Pkwy) and wiggle in for all my city travel. Here's a couple pic's from the trek. I will further investigate the park at a later date.

Great pix! ty 4 sharing love Willie, love Prospect Park...really enjoyed your post

thanks for posting
agree that Willie is a treasure
I think the only thing I miss about my 4 years in Brooklyn (80-84) is Prospect Park. They didn't have a concert venue back then. A great spot.

I live about a mile or two from Prospect Park. I love strolling or jogging through there. It's nuts how many old music venues are back up and running in Brooklyn and Queens - Kings Theatre, Forrest Hills Stadium, Prospect Park Band Shell. Not to mention some of the new spots through out Manhattan Parks like Governor's Island. I miss shows I used to kill to see all of the time - though I'm going the ARU at Brooklyn Bowl on Sunday and can't wait!
I noticed the same thing about Willie sounding out of breath when I saw him recently at Radio City, but I just assumed that he was puffing while Alison Krauss & Union Station were doing their set.

I was going to edit in the Old Crow Medicine opener portion, but I'm going to give them their own thread once I go through the clips and label the songs, I started, but sadly I wasn't familiar with their music, but F# me what a great band.
Here's a great Willie medley that highlights what I love about Willie and his guitar playing. God Bless Him, He's just a unique MoFo. See this tour with both of them!

Here's teaser dose til I go through the Old Crow Medicine.

Great vids! Thanks so much!
I took my mom to see him last year for her birthday. Such a great show. He still brings it!
