Just wondering, seems like we hear a lot of folks who were at Watkins Glen, or shows in the sixties, like Hendrix or so, or early ABB, but not much chatter about Woodstock. Strikes me as weird that a show that many folks went to, and I have only run across two, ever. Where are they?

And here is his stub, amongst other cool shows:

My best friend's brother was there too, coming from Chicago at the time.

Er.... funnily enough, their Farewell Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall were their final concerts!

Their final US show was at Providence, Rhode Island according to Wiki.

i attended woodstock in 1969 days 2 and 3. We drove up from brooklyn when we heard it was a free festival. Packed a cooler loaded with beer and brought some munchies. Then got there and parked about 6 miles from the festival and lugged the cooler which was emptied as we trudged along. We got there exhausted and then the rain that afternoon was unbelievable. Soaked to the bone, it was insane.

I would have to say it was a pretty awful experience in all honesty but as the years have passéd saying you were there is pretty cool. Highlight for me was Hendrix on Monday morning with the place completely emptied out so you could get very close to the stage and the sun was out.

There was spectacular music. I first heard Santana and Mountain and Woodstock and Crosby Still Nash and Young as well as the Who . But the rain and mud and Hendrix were my main memories.

ha ha, yep, I was there! I saw and heard almost the whole thing, a couple of buddies and I had seen the atlanta pop festival on july 4th and the hippie paper the great speckled bird had woodstock advertisements, so we sent away for tickets. the time came and no tickets but we got in the VW anyway and drove straight through, got there Thursday night with our tent and set it up in a cow pasture. walked over to where the stage was friday afternoon and sat down and stayed there. plenty good music all weekend and the tent helped out so we were still dry on monday morning. my buddies had plans on long island so they dropped me at the airport (laguardia I guess) and I was back home in atlanta that night--those were the days, when you could walk into an airport, buy a ticket & get on the plane just like that, I miss that a lot! I felt kind of bad for the businessman I sat next to on the plane. In addition to the ticket which was sitting in the mailbox when I got back, I bought a red (security) woodstock shirt for $5 on the way out and scored a poster, so I have that for souvenirs. Pretty good weekend. Since then I have been back to the site twice, it's still a real nice place in the country.

I guess cream was on their final tour, that was another real nice show. that cockroaches ticket was for the rolling stones, another good show, they were trying to keep the show a secret with the fake name but I don't think it worked.

I have often wondered if anyone here had ever been to the Monterey Pop Festival? Great film for that one, incidentally

I drove to Woodstock (Bethel, White Lake that is) with two friends. It wasn't a long drive for us. We got there at the beginning and saw Ritchie Havens and the rest of the Fri. acts. It was uncomfortable and sort of a drag (not trying to put a damper on it though). I remember eating ravioli from a can using my comb for a fork. We didn't exactly come too prepared. I was 19 and my friends were a few years older. We wound up leaving very early Sat. morning. It started raining and three people in a car was not fun. My car got stuck in mud in the parking lot. I guess we were luckey that we got out when we did. Also drove half way to Watkins Glen but then turned back after we heard about all of the crowds and traffic problems on the radio. We slept on the grass at a rest stop on Rt. 17. I think it was a Fri. night. Woke up and drove back home. Couldn't and wouldn't even think of doing that today at the tender young age of 65. Wow! Thanks for stirring up the memories.

My older (10 years) brother (from Weymouth, MA) went up with a few friends. He remember it pretty well, mostly about getting there and getting around etc. He's not really a serious music fan, but I should interview him and get it down for posterity.

i remember being there between my freshman and sophomore years of college. i remember seeing on the straigest people at my college ( a guy that never even smoked---my college only totaled about 800 people so you knew most people) and thought how odd it was but he lived nearby. couldn't wait to get home and take a bath on Monday night!!! i didn't talk much to my parents and coming home from woodstock kind of did pissed them off a bit. LOL
