Mayall's 70th Birthday Party

@tenorsfan Man this is 1970 and here in 2024 this is hard to beat. This is really hitting the NOTE!!!!

The Band - The Last Waltz 40th
Derek and the Dominoes - Layla... remastered
As a side line, the influence of Duane Allman unmistakably makes this album as special as it is! The band, in its original lineup is magical, Duane sent it over the top.

I'm listening to guitar Johnson. He knows ALL THE CORDES!!!
Here is Manhattan and some fancy playing!

3/16/97 Beacon Theatre NYC, the one year anniversary of my mom dying from pancreatic cancer...
I will never forget Dickey or his music for how they helped a young grieving hippie, uncertain of many things, to heal some.

Bougainvillea
original one, then later on vid when they broke into it from time to time at the end of Melissa during acoustic sets on Unplugged & those shows
🎶🎼B R I L L I A N C E🎼🎶

Few imo would’ve stayed on the road after what Dickey was greeted with during the band’s 1st road trip in May 1969
caught the hep, couldn’t’ve been more sick, Gregg described it in detail in his book, esp the trip from Boston to the Rye NY area
was hospitalized a few days, then convalesced a few more days at Twiggs’ aunt’s house in Rye
finally got better
& hit the road again, no hesitation
that’s intestinal fortitude folks - also belief - what a guy - RIP sir
-
please continue on topic
it’s all ABB all wknd for me, Boston Common, A&R Studios, 9/16 Warehouse, 9/19 Stonybrook, also 7/9/70 Stonybrook student lounge one off, 11/22/69 GA Terrace, the FWest boots ….so many gems
I’d like to say the Boston Tea Party boot from May 1969 opening for the Velvet Underground over 3 nights (hehe) - I know, no such animal
🎼🎶🎸Good wknd folks & turn it up for Dickey!🎸🎶🎼

Rock In Peace Dickey 🌹

Highway Call
oh-but if only the fade went another minute or 2 (on the song) - such soulful music
listened to side 1, Handpicked later today
what a life he lived - brotherly love forever to the late great Dickey Betts🎶🎸🎼🎸

Bear's Sonic Journals Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen

Dickey Betts & Great Southern 4/26/77 Fifth Floor Studios Cincinnati
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

There really is "no one to run with anymore."

The Forgotten Trail (1969-74) by Poco

The Collectors #1 - DB & GS’ high water mark imo - rural backroads/gutbucket whiskey-soaked acoustic Appalachia blues
Dickey always mentioned Dave Llles’ influence on this album, he’s on the cover
Willie & Po’ Bob (Collectors), & Old Friend (ABB HTNote), both 2003 - back to back, front to back, vice versa, in tandem, no particular order, any way you like
… & so on
they’re musical Siamese twins & show the timeless oneness of music

70's Rock Volumes 1 through 4

Norton Buffalo & The Knockouts- King Of The Highway

Love it - never heard of Jimmy McGriff b4 - your 5 words say it all
🎼am not one toke over the line, All Along The Watchtower, Brewer & Shipley

Ever thought about kicking Stevie Nicks? Or throwing a Les Paul guitar at her? What is wrong with musicians sometimes?

Well in my younger days, I thought about making her the happiest woman on Earth for least 30 minutes or so.

@stratdal 30 minutes??? I was hoping if I ever had my chance in 1979 when I saw them live I would hold her attention for 10 minutes.
Last time they were out there Linsey Buckingham was not invited. He was PO'd but they voted to remove him anyway without saying exactly what was the rub. If he is physical with Stevie then of course he can't be in the band anymore.
