@stratdal I had the pleasure years ago of seeing Miles Davis at a supper club in Atlanta. Absolutely wonderful jazz and musicianship.
On Trombone was the late Urbie Green. Here is Urbie in 1962 with another great trumpet/cornet player Bobby Hackett. Green was smoother than smooth. Outstanding musician!!

Is this really him? Sounds exactly like the licks and tone on the record to me.

Been on a Slash solo and Guns N Roses jag lately and just got a great bootleg CD and DVD of this 1988 MTV concert.
Some fans feel this performance is mediocre but rewatching it I think they were a bit sloppy but not a bad performance. Along with MTV playing the Welcome to the Jungle video this concert helped break them

One of my favorite Deep Purple songs.

For Stephen on the Lucinia Williams threat.
I can't find that 2009 show so I'll trust you that the last lineup did Trouble No More better than the of ginal lineup on Eat A Peach.
But here that is absolutely NOT to case. This version by the last lineup is not close. Gregg drops the ball on the vocals which to be fair I saw him do more than once in the 1970's.
Derek's side isn't as sharp as Duane Allman's slide and Warren doesn't swing his solo like Dickey.
And to be fair the original band was not always hitting the note either. Here I'm only focused on the live Trouble No More on Eat A Peach and versions by later line ups.

It’s a terrific version robertdee - got it on CD, just don’t have the equipment or know how to share it on the boards
I hear ya on the version you posted - the band is on point in the Meadowbrook version, esp Gregg -
can’t say the final lineup played TNMore better than the first one - again the Meadowbrook version rocks on its own merits🎶🤙🎼 - realize the confusion when I described it as “The Top” - it’s a top top version to my ears
🤙wasn’t comparing, have always felt the original band is exempt from comparison, rightly or wrongly😀✌️
the clips you post are wonderful, can readily see why many, Lee, Randall, others say they come here mainly to see what you’ve shared - thx🤙
most recent listen, The Orb, UFOrb

@stephen Thank you Stephen. I'm old now. 77. So I can't remember what I have posted some days.
The last lineup did have good shows I saw in 2009. There were rumors, you may have heard them, that they were folding the band after the 2009 run but it didn't happen.
But in 2014 when Derek and Warren announced they were quiting it was revealed by Warren the band WAS going to quit in 2009 but Butch talked them into going 5 more years and in 2014 Butch wasnted yet another 5 years but Derek and Warren wanted to make it clear if the band continues it wouldn't be with them.
Although perhaps the most different lineup, I thought the Chuck/Lamar lineup had some hot shows too. Don't know if you saw that band.
Go over to 27:00 and check out this rocking version of Ramblin' Man!!

That It Is - certainly recall Rambin Man as the highlight of the American Indian benefit summer 74 Boston Gdn too - Dickey always played this one to the nines🎶
current listen, 7/9/70 student union bldg, Stony Brook - date may not be right

Turn it up!

@stephen Yes that Ramblin' Man at that 1973 RFK Stadium show has a very long, rockin', fun solo!!!
There may be other guitarists who could play that solo in a similar way but I don't think any guitarist who was in the Allman Brothers could stretch it out and play it that good. That solo is pretty unique to Dickey.
Go over to 1:00:40 and it's Dickey in 1976 playing STATESBORO BLUES without a slide. They had many NO SLIDE shows on the Win, Loose or Draw tour.

This man is almost as good as Don Henley, Paul Riddle and Artimus Pyle!! Don't miss the drum solo about 2/3rds in.
Actually I really like Henley, Riddle and Pyle. Just joking around.

Listening to TTB this afternoon after seeing this. I'm not hearing them play Springsteen but their latest albums. Says they pulled out first time Springsteen covers last night in New Jersey.
I bet they were good covers!!

The first Springsteen cover is "Atlantic City" (since the show was in AC). I don't recall the song being very popular until The Band's cover off of their 1993 album Jericho gained popularity over the years.
It become so much more associated with late-era The Band than Springsteen that Amy Helm, whose band toured with TTB a few times, still performs it live

@porkchopbob Oh yes I remember that being from the Band now. Bruce Springsteen wrote it but the Band had the hit. Like Bob Dylan wrote All Alone The Watchtower but everyone knows it as a Hendrix song.
My first time hearing Amy Helm sing. She has a wonderful voice and this is a strong version too.
Been listening to "I Am The Moon" here on my CD player this afternoon. That is a fine album and one of TTB's best.

Buddy way back in 1942 showing Ginger Baker and John Bohnam HOW ITS DONE!!! Hot. Hot pounding the skins!!!
