I have really been enjoying the recent Johnny Winter - True to the Blues box set and it got me thinking about what a similar set for Warren would look like. He has way too much time ahead of him ( we all hope), but it does make you wonder.

Before you even discuss a song list, you have a difficult time even putting together a concept. It would have to be large like the Duane box, but still there is so much material to cover ...

It would have to include healthy samples of his ABB material, more than healthy sample of Gov't Mule and his solo albums and a sample of his work with the Phil Lesh Q from There and Back Again.

Fun question - you'd need about a 70 CD set to cover Warren's career - but I'm going with 7 CDs like Skydog. I'm going all live tracks for my box set.

Disc 1 - Early Years
Live tracks of Warren with David Allan Coe, The Nighthawks, Warren Haynes and the Rich Hippies, and the Dickey Betts Band.

Disc 2 - ABB Betts/Haynes era
ABB tracks starting from '89 until '97 with special focus to include songs written or co-written by Warren for the ABB

Disc 3 - Gov't Mule Woody/Haynes era
Gov't Mule performances from '94-01

Disc 4 - ABB Trucks/Haynes era
Cross section of ABB 2001-2014 tracks again including songs written by Warren for this lineup

Disc 5 - Gov't Mule 2001-2015 with selections from as many different Mule lineups through these years as possible

Disc 6 - Warren in the Dead world - songs featuring Warren on lead vocals with Phil Lesh and Friends, The Dead, and his Symphonic Jerry Garcia tribute tour. Again try to include some songs Warren wrote for these groups.

Disc 7 - Warren solo work - material drawn from early 90's Warren Haynes Band, his solo acoustic tours, and the recent Warren Haynes Band incarnation.

There you go - let's get these made and shipped out.

What about his collaborations at the Wetlands? I bet there is a bunch of uncirculated music from that era.

I really liked ScoMule.

Some live songs from the ABB, and mule, and other bands he's played or been a guest with.
