Wanee vs Lockin

Old Wanee vet here going to attend Lockin for the first time. I can’t imagine a nicer place to see a festival than the Spirit of Swanee Music Park in Live Oak, Fl. It appears the woods camping at Lockin is sold out. Anybody here with Lockin festival experience that can offer some advice?

Wanne has it all over most festivals in terms of environment, and Lockn is no exception.
Lockn is primarily camping in an open field...with open fields around it. No river, no hiking
or biking trails within the festival confines. I'm a Virginian and attended the first 3 Lockn festivals.
I think it is a wonderful festival and I have extremely fond memories of the music, but the
camping is nothing like wonderful Wanne. My biggest issue is the distance between most RV
camping and the stage. From most areas the stage is a haul. I can tell you I have been spoiled,
and will readily admit it, by Wanne camping...and there is nothing like the Mushroom Stage.
I'm an older fan, saw Duane in '71, so the heat, and no shade, and the distance to the stage from
camping is enough to keep me from going again...but I have friends my age that still attend, and love it.

Been to Lockn once and Wanee three times. Stayed in a hotel in Charlottesville and was bused to and from festival but hung with a large group camping. Heat was brutal and the guys camping suffered. Having a shower everyday was nice. Definitely would think twice about camping at Lockn. Wanee just the opposite. This year my pick is Lockn over Wanee but stay in hotel.

Thank you for the head’s up. Good thing I asked. I’ll get a hotel. Wanee is special but I’m looking forward to attending Lockin this year. Line-up is stacked.
