There has been a lot of chatter about the future of Wanee Fest lately. Wanee 2018 was a quiet one, and rumors began to spread, especially during Hulaween, that it would be the final one. The combination of fewer Allman Bros family bands and competition from 420 Fest up the road in Atlanta seemed to seal the deal. Today there is an official announcement that doesn't explain everything, but confirms what a lot of us have expected. Seems like kind of a cop out - they aren't officially killing Wanee, but they aren't promising its future. It's really nuts how quickly Wanee was eclipsed by Peach Fest as the ABB-family band place to be.

THE TRADITIONAL WEEKEND FOR THE WANEE MUSIC FESTIVAL IN 2019 FALLS ON THE SAME WEEKEND AS GOOD FRIDAY, EASTER AND PASSOVER.IT HAS BEEN THE WANEE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE IN THE PAST THAT MANY OF OUR REGULAR FESTIVAL GOERS DECIDE NOT TO ATTEND ON THIS WEEKEND, DUE TO THE HOLIDAY BEING ONE THAT MANY CHOOSE TO SPEND WITH THEIR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND RELIGIOUS FAITH.
FOR THIS REASON, THE WANEE MUSIC FESTIVAL WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IN 2019

One possibility - TTB's Sunshine Music Fest was cancelled for 2019 as well, and the band alluded to future plans for the area. Is TTB carrying the Wanee torch in some form?
So Wanee is taking a hiatus, like the DTB.
Too bad. We loved Wanee, most especially the camping environs. Best camping for a festival in America. The reduction of festivals seems to be a trend. All things run their course, I guess?
I enjoy the festival vibe and hope we don't see just the Mega-Fests survive.
Wanee definitely has the best festival vibe. The rumor is there will be a different jamband festival at Spirit of Suwanee Park early in April, so maybe this is simply a way for the park to cut ties with Live Nation.
