Wanee 2016 Lineup

Who's in Les Brers to get such a high billing?

That's a pretty darn good line up. I think I'll make the trip this year.

Butch Trucks

They played Peach Fest last year.
It's Butch,Oteil, Marc Q, Jaimoe, Jack Pearson, Pat Bergeson, Bruce Katz , Lamar williams, Jr and Bill Evans .

C'mon Derek what the hell

You would think they could spell Allman correctly.

I was just going to say that Alan!

I had to do a double take, because this is pretty close to last year's lineup (minus Cheap Trick). I was hoping for a surprise or two - usually they have at least one dinosaur rock band Sat afternoon. Still super solid, the lineup at this point is almost secondary to the roll call of folks here that are going.
I was hoping for TTB, but wasn't expecting them since they have Magnolia Fest there in the Fall. Either way, can't wait to drive past those gateway gnomes again!

I believe I will be able to have some fun there............. Stanley Clarke will be cool, along with NMAS with Anders Osbourne ............

Thinking I might make the trip over from England for this, any tips would be grateful.I take it most people camp?
With it running Thur to Sat are most artists on on the Fri/Sat as was hoping to see the Big House on Thur Morning.Anyway any ideas would be much appreciated.

You should definitely come to Wanee. It is too much fun to miss out on. I missed the first couple of years but have been planning my Springs around it ever since my first visit in 2010. Most people camp, and I wouldn't do it any other way. I look forward to sitting around the fire with friends at the end of the night as much as I do the music. There is a Walmart down the road that you can gear up at.
The Big House might not be open on Thursday if the staff are all at Wanee Thurs-Sun. You should check with them, you might have to go there on Weds, and that way you won't miss any of the fun on Thursday (which is often my favorite day of the fest). Plus Macon itself is a really nice little city and worth spending some time in. If you want to hit the Big House before the fest, I'd recommend flying into Atlanta since Macon is between ATL and Live Oak - it is probably the most convenient international airport for flights from abroad in the area.

Wowie Zowie what a band. Overall, very good lineup. Now if it wasn't 2,000 miles from me.......

I think I may have to start working out to prepare for that weekend. It looks like I won't be sleeping at all.
Good times.

I wish they chose a different singer other than Lamar williams jr. and Derek does not want to be associated with the ABB anymore.

that's a bummer, I dig Lamar's take on the tunes
Derek does not want to be associated with the ABB anymore.
Rather I think Derek is enjoying what his own kick ass band is doing. He has since sat in with Gregg and played with Warren just the other night.

Very good lineup (particularly if you like 5 hours of Widespread Panic), but very unimaginative.
I don't think Derek is shunning his ABB association; he's played on stage with Gregg, Warren, Jaimoe, Marc and Jack since the band ended a year ago. I think he's avoiding "ABB Reunion" talk at all costs. If there are going to be one off reunions in the future, I'd be surprised if he is part of it.

I like the line up !!
Finally, I will get a chance to see Stanley Clarke 😛

I love Wanee. I love everything about it. I drive from the northern most part of VA to Live Oak every year. The venue, the camping, the Swanee River, stages, the people and, the lineup are great. I've been 7 times. It is, and has always been, the ABB festival, which I expect....Jaimoe, Butch, Gregg, & Warren, and Derek to have their bands there. The other bands have pretty much been close to the same for years, and not that it is entirely bad, or unprecedented. I'd like to see some different bands though. The trap for the promoters of festivals is reducing their work load, and taking less, and less risk. I get it....it is a "for profit" entity. It is a smart idea for festivals' to book bands they know, for multiple year commitments, that are dependable, will draw, and will take their financial offer. Because it is a major hassle reinventing the wheel every year. Don't get me wrong, they have booked many, many fantastic acts over the years, Robert Plant, Dr John, Dangermuffin, etc.. My point is, there is a ton of work involved producing a festival, the longer you go, the harder it gets. I think Wanee, for multiple reasons, is one of the best festivals in the USA. I understand the similar line ups, I just wish they would venture out and change it up on occasion.
Yes, I'm going this year

Very good lineup but very unimaginative.
An "imaginative line-up" is what I fear most at Wanee. Right now, it still has that Allmans family tree vibe with friends. To me there are several surprises this year, but they aren't off the charts. My fear down the road (if it continues) is that Wanee will turn into an Aura or something similar.

I think it's THE BEST festival. I live in NYC and I skip Mountain Jam and Peach Fest, both much closer, to get to Wanee (went to Vibes last summer, which was fun, but probably wouldn't go back).
And glad you mentioned DangerMuffin - they were a ton of fun, I gotta look them up again.

Hope everyone has fun this year !

I agree....An "imaginative line-up" and to some extent, greed, is what destroyed Mountain Jam. A once great, relatively affordable and convenient, three day festival that had the same jam band and a few other type acts kind of vibe gone to sh*t in just a few short years...

Can't wait - already looking to pack my car.... 😛

Hey Sang, can you give Helen and Nancy a hug for me please

Oh how I miss this festival!!!!!

Still no Wanee for me, I'm settling for SUmmer Camp again this year.
Joe Marcinek is a local guy for me, and I really like his playing and vibe.
I've only caught his Fresh Hops Band, but I'm thrilled to see him working his way into a festival slot, with Tony Hall in the band at that!
