Sorry Effie but I'm much more into The Coop than The Band so I voted for Alice. And he's leading 57-43%. I know that may not be a popular opinion on a jam band's website, but I just never became a big fan of The Band, and I love Cooper. Seeing how Alice knocked Neil Young out in the first round, I don't give The Band much of a chance in this voting. I respect The Band for what they did, but sure don't find myself listening to them, hardly ever. But then, I'm a ROCKER at heart............

I, too, am way more of a rocker and as I get older I need my music to be louder and faster, or I'm awfully bored.
That being said, The Band rule over AC in so many ways, it's not even close! They ALL sang, most played multiple instruments, they wrote songs covered by way more people, Dylan picked them to back him up, they are Canadian, they did The Last Waltz, etc. The only thing Cooper has going for him was that Hunter/Wagner played with him, but they did better with Lou Reed. 🙂

C'mon, amyjared. The Band never cut the head off of a baby doll onstage; never had their head removed by a guillotine; and not ONE "Band" member was ever hung from the gallows onstage. And you say it's not even close? C'mon, now. Oh, I almost forgot: The Band has never professed it's love for the dead. Alice has, many, MANY times. Also, not ONE "Band" member has ever gently caressed a mannequin while singing Cold Ethyl.

The only time I saw TTB they did The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down for their encore...........I thought it was the most boring encore choice ever. And most of The Band's stuff bores the hell out of me. The Weight is a great tune...........can't think of a whole lot more that gets me excited. The Last Waltz is a great film but that's partly because of all the guests in it. The Band playing live by themselves couldn't hold my interest for the length of that film. I own Music From Big Pink because it's got such a reputation as a classic. But truth is I never play it.......for the same reason........I find it boring.

One of the first albums I ever bought was one by Alice Cooper. Of course it was the last one I bought by Mr. Cooper. Now The Band on the other hand........ I think I'll go cast my vote now.
