This has outstanding hot solos from Chuck and Dickey setting the bar high for 2020 Chuck and Warren.

I hope Chuck can play Jessica as good as he does on the above video. Doubt Warren or Derek could top Dickey on that. Dickey's solo absolutely SMOKES. Hot, hot. But maybe it will be just as hot but it would be different. Nobody sounded like Dickey back when he could really bring it.

Does all agree Chuck and Dickey deliver powerful and amazing solos on this Jessica? I will be thrilled if Chuck and Warren or Derek can match Chuck and Dickey on the aboved linked video.

It's a fine version, not amazing. Always nice to have Chuck in the house, especially on a grand playing "Jessica". Part of it might be the mix, Dickey and Chuck are buried.

What is really interesting is that appears to be "Goldie", has wear in similar spots to early 1980s shows and early 1990s photos, but Dickey installed a whammy bar for this period. I mean, a whammy bar on a Les Paul!? The 80s was weird, man...

Porkchopbob. Hmmm. They don't sound buried on my headphones. But indeed lots of energy especially from Dickey.

That is Goldie. Goldie has a tone that is real fine. Better than most guitars. It is a 1957 and Dickey found it in 1974 at a pawn shop in Manhattan. Apparently it had not been played that much before Dickey found it. First time I saw it was on Dickey's solo tour and next years Win, Loose and Draw tour, it looked new.

Dickey had the tailpiece with whammy bar installed about 1985 after he went to a Stevie Ray Vaughn show. I can hear it being used on Pattern Disruptive but the 3 shows a saw in 1988 for the tour, Dickey had changed it back.

Dickey had an old 1955 Strat with a whammy bar he used I think he said for rhythm guitar in the studio back in the 70's but he gave it and a ES-335 Duane owned to Eddy Shaver. Eddy really took to the old Fender. It was his number one the rest of his life. Of course it is well known when Shaver joined Dwight Yoakam he was required to play a Telecaster. But when he went back to his fathers band, he returned to the old Strat Dickey gave him. I think, if I remember correctly, Gregg Allman traded that old Strat to Dickey for a car.

Here is the old Strat Dickey gave Eddy Shaver. Dickey was really into Billy Joe Shaver's original material back then. I think after Eddy died of a smack overdose, Billy Joe gave the Strat and the ES-335 Duane Allman use to own to Willie Nelson.

Porkchopbob. If you watch the Shaver video with Eddy playing the old 55 Strat Dickey Betts gave him, note at about 2 minutes in how the audience is going crazy. Jumping and twirling like a Dead concert!!
