Vegas Knights

amazing run for an expansion team and now seriously could win it all. Would this be the most amazing upset in sports history if Vegas wins the Cup?
Any thoughts on a bigger sports upset
The 69 Mets or Jets?
Buster Douglas beats Mike Tyson?
Others???

The number of people that put down some $$$ at 500 to 1 odds while drunk in Vegas and elsewhere.......well it has Vegas and bookies nervous.

i live in Las Vegas, and will tell you that I have never seen a city captivated by a sports team as the Golden Knights. I am originally from NY and grew up a Rangers fan (still am) but this is something else.
In terms of an upset--interesting discussion. If this were a "one off" like the Buster Douglas fight, I'd agree it is up there. However I have watched this team play all year. This would not be an upset--they are really good and have been all year. Surprising? of course, nobody saw this coming, like zero people. However they drafted their kind of players, and did it very smartly. They made many trades as well, and found lightning in a bottle.
As far as the books go, there were a few people who bet it at high odds, and the books lost money on the Knights this year but nothing that I am aware of that is major. What gets into the national press, I wouldn't know.
Go Knights!

I'm from central NY, played hockey from the time I was 8.
A non playing former classmate lives in Vegas and he's all into the Knights fever.
I am impressed as hell with the way this team forechecks, from the first line down to the fourth.
I live close to Syracuse and the Crunch are the AHL affiliate of Tampa Bay.
I would like nothing better than a Tampa/Vegas final and I'll be happy no matter who wins.
That said, I'm pulling for Vegas.

agree that this isn't an upset - they have been playing great all year and are 2nd seed in the conference.
kudos to management and coaching for putting this team together
should be a great final. I'm pulling for Tampa for the simple reason the Rangers will get higher draft choices if they win (not that they will use them properly, but that's a separate issue)

Vegas has proven that in hockey more than any other sport team chemistry is bigger than a roster full of stars. This group is playing with a tenacity that just won't stop. Really enjoy watching them play hard every shift. Shutting down the Winnipeg firepower was no small task. Most amazing stat is they are on a 12-3 run heading into the Finals. Crazy.
A lot of discussion starting to break out as to is this a very good thing or a very bad thing for hockey. Great story witnessing this bunch of castaways cruise into the Finals but if you're a fan of a team that's been through several rebuilds over 25+ years and barely have gotten a sniff (Islanders? Flyers? Oilers? Flames? Leafs?) you must be pretty pissed.
As much as I'd like to see some of my former Ranger favorites hoist the Cup (of course they have to beat the Caps first who were on a mission last night) , I can't help but root for Vegas.

Just saw the line on the first game. Vegas is -125. Figured it would be more than that. Haven't seen a line on the series yet. I'm thinking if Vegas is only -125 at home in the first game they won't be favored by much more than that in the series.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

surprised Vegas would be favored. I would think Caps are favorites. The road through Columbus, Pittsburg and TB is far more difficult than Ducks, Sharks and a Jets team that was beaten up by Nashville in 7 tough games.
Both teams will be well rested. Can Vegas stand up to the size and physicality of the Capitals will be the key.
