Tyler's Room is open!

I've posted a few times about the music therapy charity my family started in memory of my brother Tyler. For anyone who hasn't read up, it's called Music Never Stops: the Tyler Seaman Foundation, and we're raising money to support music therapy programs for teens and young adults with serious illnesses. Tyler was an ABB fan through and through, and he used their music - along with The Band, the Dead, Phish, ALO, classic jazz, and so much more - to keep himself going and bond with his friends while he spent four years battling terminal cancer. Along the way we've enjoyed great support from friends, family, and some of our favorite musicians.
On Tuesday, coincidentally the start of the ABB's final Beacon Run, we gathered at Mount Sinai Beth Israel to cut the ribbon and unveil the plaque marking Tyler's Room. We're far from done here as we still have plenty of money to raise and then we hope to turn our attention to even bigger goals. But this was a great milestone. We've been raising money for a year and a half and the results so far have been very encouraging. On Tuesday we got together with the leaders of Beth Israel's music therapy program, including the remarkable Dr. Joanne Loewy, as well as friends and family to mark the occasion. We also got to explore the room and a demonstration of the recording equipment and software the patients will use with the hospital's music therapists. It's a terrific start. Please check out the blog post I wrote about the occasion and consider supporting us if the cause moves you.
