Two years ago today... full report on the final show

Thanks for posting. And FYI your book rocks.
I was lucky enough to see my ABB show during the spring run of that year.

An incredible & wonderful evening of music.I was overjoyed that i got to be there.
In addition to the music, many of us met for a pre show dinner..reminds me how much i miss the camaraderie, the brotherhood, sisterhood & many friendships formed here.

Thanks Alan.
After seeing at least 1 show at every Beacon run from 1999-2009, I was very emotional 2 years ago today...even from Atlanta! It was the right adult/financial/family decision not to go, but it didn't mean I wasn't bummed I wasn't at that last show after 65 Allman Brothers shows from 1990-2014.
My consolation was that my final night at the Beacon was 3/19/09 with Clapton for possibly the best concert I've ever witnessed. I think I will play that show along with the epic final night via my prized Instant Lives.
Alan's reporting of those final two weeks was impressive and appropriate after all the reporting he had done on the band. He was one of those people that played a key real role in resurgence of the Allman Brothers popularity over their final 25 years....something few would have predicted.
I look forward to catching up on some reading and listening today. Long live the Allman Brothers Band!

I caught the show on the 27th first Beacon show but had seen many a previous show.
Band was on fire. I stayed up half the night on 28th reading reports.
A truly great run..

Thanks, Alan. Great read, and really enjoyed your book too.

I am not sure this will post from FB, but hope so... sorry it's so big, but that way you can really see the faces

+1
The dinner, the people, the show. One of my favorite nights of music and friendship ever.

It is a shame there is no DVD/Blu Ray release of this show or wide release of the CD beyond the Instant Live.

Yep. Though just as well in some ways.

Thank you. I'll gladly accept the first compliment. I worked my ass off these nights and was fueled by tremendous feedback from so many. As for the second one, thank you, but I can't claim a key role in the revival. I reported on it more than anyone and certainly helped get the word out, from Seven Turns on, but I'm not usre how much of a difference that stuff really made. As for few would have predicted - definitely correct!

Yes! I'll concur. Impossible to weigh the different nights ultimately. the last two were tremendously good also and very weighted with emotion for everyone in the building. The Clapton nights were superb and so energy packed from hours before the show until the last note.

anybody care to try and identify those fine folks who just ate? I know a few of them. what a great meal that was!

Hard to believe it has been two years! The back to back shows on the 27th and 28th were 2 of the best ABB shows I went to in the 20+ years I consistently saw them. What a way to go out!

Thanks, Alan. Very emotional to have those amazingly special moments re-created. Bravo
