TTB at the Orpheum Theater (12.7.19) - Dreams

Brother Derek is just incredible.

Indeed he is. And also makes appreciate Brother Duane more and more.
Two very special players for sure.

Yes that was impressive. Derek is the most stellar slide player out there to me and I like his straight guitar solos too.
And indeed, Duane Allman is the foundation, the cornerstone of Derek's style. With his uncle in the Allman Brothers his dad was playing ABB at home and Derek said he wore out copies of Fillmore East and Eat A Peach and was attracted to Duane's slide playing. Derek also wore out the Layla album by Derek and the Dominos. Derek's father liked that record with Duane and Eric Clapton trading licks so much that he named Derek Derek.
When I was growing up there was a major league baseball player named Virgil Trucks. I've always heard he was related to Butch so he has to be related to Derek too.

Thanks for the post.
This is the defining ABB tune for me. Greggs emotional vocal outpouring coupled with Duane and Dickeys playing was over the top for me.
Derek nailed it and you can feel his emotional ties to the tune.
Susan however, delivered a boring vocal. Would have preferred hearing Mike handling that vocal.

I was at the Friday and Saturday shows and was hoping / thinking that they would play Dreams Saturday night. It was amazing. During Derek's solo, my wife was enjoying watching my reaction almost as much as she enjoyed Derek's playing.
