TTB at the Beacon (9.27.19) - Don't Keep Me Wonderin'

DT goes absolutely nuts over the last minute or so after the keyboard solo. Had to share. Wail on!

Wow

Nice.

Funny how blase' Susan is when her genius guitar playing husband is wailing away.
Thanks.

Wow
Wow is right. That is blazing.

Beaconworthy
OH Yeah Derek!
And 1 day after the anniversary of the formation of ABB (9-26).
He most definitely had some inspiration there.

This makes, what, 30 singers now in TTB? They have more players in their band than seats in the Beacon
Derek really smokes here.

3-26

Ripping version.
The keyboardist has a great voice too!

"DuvvaL" yall

Funny how blase' Derek is when his gorgeous and talented wife is wailing away
singing the blues.

That made me chuckle.

Wow, absolutely crushes it.

that was awesome.
This Whipping Post is off the handle too

Wow that WP had some serious anger energy in it.
And did the lighting guy take a bathroom break during that tune?

This is "The Storm" into "Whipping Post" with a little "Afro Blue" in the middle, from the final night at the Beacon, October 5, 2019.
Great stuff. Derek plays some angry stuff to express "the storm."

😮
Made my day...Thank you

I am surprised that guitar did not catch on fire. What a killer tone when he lays into that SG with that slide. My Lord!!!
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

That is fantastic slide guitar playing by Derek. The tone and energy and level of technical ability are all top rate.
I saw Duane Allman play Don't Keep Me Wondering a few times in 1970 and 1971. Derek's attack, energy and style is so Duane Allman. And why not. Derek has said that growing up his dad played Fillmore East and Eat A Peach regularly not only because his dad's brother Butch was the main drummer but it is fantastic music and playing. Derek said he was especially attracted to Duane's slide work and that was a huge influence on Derek's playing. More recently Derek said he doesn't listen to other guitar players for influence but instead real good horn players. Duane Allman listened to harmonica players for influence with his slide style. Of course the cornerstone of Duane's slide style was Jessie Ed Davis of Taj Mahal.
Gregg and Jaimoe have said Jack Pearson came the closest of capturing Duane's slide style but I think this is it here.
With all due respect to Jack, Duane Allman would really cut loose and go nuts with blistering slide playing especially on songs like Dont Keep Me Wondering and that is EXACTLY what Derek is doing here.
And Derek is using a custom Brother to Brother SG that is made to be a dead ringer of the SG Dickey gave Duane.
Really enjoyed Derek's work here.

Great !!! Derek's solo on DKMW was always great, but this one really blows off the roof of the Beacon !!! Thank You for posting ! BTW: Can somebody tell me the names of TTB's new keyboard- and of their new bass-player ? Thank you !

Derek's attack, energy and style is so Duane Allman. . . .

^ This is exactly why I felt so compelled to post this after I heard it. I may be one of the younger one's still on here, but I've heard pretty much everything available from Duane to date, and I follow Derek very closely. It is such a thrill every single time Derek reaches down and taps into that sacred energy source that Duane ferociously captured regularly (especially on these blues tracks). Derek is the only person (for obvious reasons, I suppose) that even comes closing to moving me like Duane's music does. The explosiveness here really blew me away.

Gabe Dixon keyboards
Brandon Boone bass

The guy singing has a Paul Carrack thing goin' on, I like it.
Let him sing everything.

Gabe can really sing this one. I hope he stays with the band after this year. Great player. I believe it is more likely that Brandon stays from what I've been told.

Fantastic!
Thanks for the video that made my day!
Where is Mike Mattison? I didn't see him in the mix.

Looks like Mike may have taken that song off. You see him move back into his spot at the end of the video.

Sadly we know what happened to Kofi but where did Tim Lefebvre on bass go?
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

Tim left the band on his own early in the year. I think he's concentrating on recording and NYC.

Man, I hated for that video to end!!!!
