50th Anniversary retrospective, now we see why the music biz is pushing a show - to promote an album (no to sound jaded, it probably would have happened but maybe without such a huge push).
Nothing really of interest for most of us fans who already have all of these songs in other formats EXCEPT "Mountain Jam" from Watkins Glen! Just give us the whole show!
Also nice nuggets - "I'm Not Crying" from the Jack Pearson years and nice that they included a Jimmy Herring-era track.

Like most on here - I've got much of this stuff already - but will enjoy getting the previously unreleased material. The bigger takeaway here for me is that there is evidently release worthy quality recordings of the Jack Pearson year, the Jimmy Herring year, and the 2005 Beacon Run. I am very, very thirsty for some full show releases of all of those things.

It's one of their biggest songs and casual fans have probably never heard Gregg sing it. That's going to be more interesting to some people than a cover of a blues classic. He and the band sounded great at that time, too. Looking at the track list, the Black Hearted Woman from 3/26/09 is absolutely outstanding. They also could have included the beautiful Little Martha > Blue Sky > Little Martha jam from that run.

From what I'm reading the first track is a 1969 rehearsal, never before released, Trouble No More. And the last track is Trouble No More at the Beacon 2014..last song the band played or will ever play as it pointed out the March MSG show is not billed as The Allman Brothers Band but The Brothers. But what the heck. It's The Rolling Stones or The Stones. Okay maybe the official name is The Stones if they played after Mick Jagger retired. I get the difference. The Dead is not OFFICIALLY The Grateful Dead.
Berry Oakley was singing Trouble No More when they were playing as an unnamed band at Second Coming shows. Be neat if it's one of those and Reese would be on keys. Rest of band was Duane, Dickey, Butch and Jaimoe.
The band and Dickey were hot in 1997 when Jack first joined. Hot in 1999 when Derek first joined Dickey and hot in 2000 when Jimmy was subbing for Dickey. A good live show from those 3 lineups would interest me .

My first reaction: I'm actually underwhelmed. Only 7 previously unreleased tracks? Back in 1989 the "Dreams" boxset was a real treasure trove of unreleased ABB and solo recordings. The CD format was only launched a few years earlier and together with all the unreleased material the reason for it's critically aclaimed success. I guess most of the unreleased live songs of this new boxset have already been in trade circles for many years (or even from Instant Live / Munchmix releases?). In the last few years most of the ABB cds and all the lps have been re-released. The vinyl separate and as part of the massive Peach crate. Recently yet another re-release of 5 albums on coloured vinyl. Also plenty of other deluxe / live releases. I also think the vinyl boxset is extremely overpriced. Maybe that price will come down, but 50 bucks for each slab of vinyl? Dedicated / hardcore fans already spent lot's of money "upgrading" their peachy collection in recent years and probably are reluctant on duplicating 90% of this content once again and "new fans" probably think a 5CD box or a 500 bucks 10LP box is too extensive and /or expensive.

Marley, correct me if I'm wrong because I know you were there too but I think the first time they did Blue Sky was 9/25/04 at the Fox in Atlanta. It was the Saturday night show, the second of three and I recall Gregg saying something along the lines of "We get a lot of requests for this one". The place went nuts and I thought Gregg pulled it off very well.
Get the Fox Box if you don't have it. I think it costs more now than what I paid for the Instant Lives all three nights.

And regarding the lack of new unreleased material, I am with some of you. Vinyl? That would be really cool but I'm not paying $500 for it. So I guess I'll pay 60 bucks for the seven new songs. Not to sound like a grumpy old man but if this stuff exists, it would be nice if it was released in a better fashion rather than some things being put out in fits and starts.
Remember when Mycology was released and one unreleased song was on it? I think Every Hungry Woman.
As was mentioned, the Dreams Box Set is so amazing. They did a great job with that.

I agree with Lee, Dreams box was very well done.
I'll probably pass on this, $60 for seven "new" songs doesn't make it worthwhile for me.
As for no Derek/Dickey from 99, I've listened many times to that show from Syracuse, first ABB show for two of my kids and Lucinda Williams was an amazing opener.
The guitar interplay wasn't very good at that point and Dickey's setlist just sucked.
Just read the post Dickey Blue Sky has Gregg singing and Chuck Leavell playing.
Then I believe that Blue Sky is from 3/21/05 and it is really good.
That 3/21/05 is one of my all-time favorite Allman Brothers shows of any era of the band. The extended the original Beacon run by two shows. 3/21 and 3/22, the latter being a Big House benefit show. Chuck & others had shown up a day early and Chuck got a lot of stage time and it was always a treat when he played with the final version of the ABB.
I might have considered this set on vinyl but $500 for a 10LP set? They have to be kidding. I purchased the recent Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys Fillmore LP box set for 1/5 that price and that was for Holy Grail unreleased Hendrix.
Who is setting these absurd prices and what is so special about the vinyl they think it is worth that cost?
Perhaps this reveals that the cupboard of release quality archives is much barer than hoped. I anticipate this will delay future releases of more unfamiliar material. Still waiting on 5/2/70 (assuming a decent source exists) and 3/20/98.

Stand Back: The Anthology is the name of their 2 CD box set from 2004
So 15-year intervals, basically, between the three box-set releases

Man, I was looking at the track listing for the Dreams box set and forgot how good it was. Anyone know if it ever came out on vinyl and how the sound quality is? I am going to sample some of it on Spotify when I am in the gym later.

You're correct about the date and details. They teased Blue Sky very noticeably the night before and for some reason I got really anxious about it. At that time some of us attached a lot of significance to the idea of Gregg songs and Dickey songs and what they should play or shouldn't - what a waste of time all that was! Anyway, the next night the audience reaction was rapturous. It was the loudest roar I ever heard in person at an Allmans show (I was not at the Clapton shows in 2009). That show ended with Blue Sky, Dreams (with a Derek solo), Les Brers and Layla. One of the best finishes I ever saw from them, and they just kept going the next night.

I'm actually excited about the live "Blue Sky" from 2005 with Chuck Leavell. Actually I'm quite excited about all of the tracks that haven't been available before.
I was sort of hoping that there would have been some unreleased studio material from later years, but I bet either those tapes are gone or not available for some other reason.
