Thanks for posting jzfunk. One of my favorite Tommy tunes. Have you heard the version from Great Gypsy Soul, the Warren produced tribute cd? Brad Whitford rips. Tommy was just so good and soulful. Touched By Magic, the Tommy bio, is a great read too. 😉

Yeah ,I think we chatted about it before.I still have not heard it yet. I was kinda turned off by the concept of them playing along with Tommy. Would rather just hear a tribute instead. Maybe one of these days...........,.......
I'm the mean time feel the power of TB!

"Crazed Fandango"!! Nice pick JSZ.

That "Tommy Bolin & Friends Live at Ebbets Field 1974" is so great. Hot raw live awesomeness.

I love all of Bolin's studio stuff and always did. However, the Bolin Archives really exposed some sides of his excellence that i just never knew existed.

AMEN BROTHER!!!! That is one of my favorite live recordings to listen to Live At Ebbets. Not a bad tune and TB brings the fire on Fandago. That performance proves he is one of the greats.

Mega-Bolin fan here. Jsz buy that release. It's "different" that the artists are playing to tracks Tommy did long ago, but, let me tell you, the cut with John Scofield and another with Sonny Landreth, you'd swear that they had to be sitting there together, the players are locked into such a groove and melodies. Don't deprive yourself of hearing that.

Plus, there are contributions from Warren and Derek and neither of those guys would sign onto anything that didn't do justice to Tommy.

I remember an exchange with Derek in the Denver Marriot West parking lot some years ago, I thanked Derek for a favor he'd done me and I brought him some tunes of artists I knew he'd like. Several were with Tommy. I said,"and these have Tommy Bolin on them."

Derek kind of did a double take, "Bolin? Cool!"

Pick up Great Gypsy Soul. 😉
