"The Terry Kath Experience" is a documentary about a daughter discovering the legacy of her father: the late Terry Kath. Kath was one of the founding members of the band Chicago whose powerful guitar playing and husky, melodic voice has been praised by such icons as Jimi Hendrix, Joe Walsh and Eric Clapton. Before discovering his full potential as a guitarist and subsequent guitar icon, Kath's life ended tragically at age 32. Terry's daughter Michelle was only two years old when he passed, only coming to know him through his music and stories from her mother. After discovering a box of memorabilia, Michelle sets out on a journey to get to know her father and to search for his iconic lost guitar. In this documentary, Michelle interviews her dad's family, bandmates and good friends, as well as prominent musicians, to piece together the life of her father, one of the great unsung rock legends on the 1970s.

TK was a giant. One can only wonder where his career and legacy would have gone to. Really a shame.

A treasure, both the DVD & Kath himself - starts out so well w/his friend mincing no words about the accident - & his former bandmates letting the tears flow while talking to his daughter about him - how struck they are by her resemblance to him - & the great find at the end…..well-done dcumntry, his daughter is wonderful

Hot solo live. Peter Cetera on bass and vocals.  Peter fell out with the band as he wanted more spotlight time so went solo and had a few hits on his own including one with Amy Grant before he faded.

Terry's daughter's experience is similar to Duane Allman's daughter.

A great rockumentary. Saw it a few years ago and may spin it again. Tragic how that power trio never materialized. Kath would've shone bright.

I finally listened to the whole guitar instrumental off the first album. That took some serious ballz for a band to include that cut.

Great documentary.  Really sad to see how he was spiraling and no one could reach him.  Common tale from the era and the industry.

When I look at old Chicago videos on YouTube and glance at the comments, Terry has his vocal supporters. They insist Terry was the greatest rock guitarist ever. That even Jimi Hendrix said Terry was better than he was. Not sure about that.

But I agree with Dickey. Let's not make it a contest. The great players have their styles that some people like better than other players but technically there isn't a best. That it isn't a contest like a tennis match or pool player.

But a lot of people tend to make it that way especially with guitar players. And somewhat with singers and drummers.

In early 1970 Duane Allmam's slide playing on the very first song I heard the band do, Statesboro Blues, grabbed me spiritually and the tone and energy I felt was the most transformative guitar experience I ever had. I was toked up pretty good but it was completely unexpected. A friend talked me into going.

So for me Duane Allman perhaps is the best. But I realize that is a big statement and there are dozens of absolute great players now and in the past.
