The Search For The Southern Sound

Hey all-Just wanted to let everyone know, I'm working with Jeff Mosier, who most of you know in some capacity, on a great project we call "The Search For The Southern Sound"-An interview series with Jeff and various musicians talking music, life, influence, and the element of what makes southern music so distinct. We've posted our first episode, which happens to be with the man we all revere around here-Col Bruce Hampton. We've all known and seen Bruce through the years as the zambi stagemaster, but this episode is worth a look if for no other reason, than the candid conversation between two friends who genuinely love each other. Not to mention Bruce talking about his early years in Atlanta, and the influence of seeing Albert King and Aretha Franklin at Atlanta's Royal Peacock. Thought you folks here might enjoy it-a great conversation with two great guys.

Thanks for that, but man that final sequence of Bruce hobbling into the dark was heart-rending.
Since he discussed the Dead, it reminds me of seeing Dead & Co nearly 2 yrs ago. As I approached Philips arena, I was sort of questioning myself whether it was pathetic in trying to recapture some of the past glory. Just then I saw the Colonel who was apparently also going. I knew then it was alright to go.

Thanks.

Well done, Andrew. Nice.

Really enjoyed the interview. Just awesome.
