I can listen to this CD over and over; great songs, lyrics, a certain sound and feel that I just love.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that Derek and Eric are all over the CD, as well as Taj, Willie Weeks, etc.

Came out 10 years ago and it is timeless. Just great stuff!

I really dig that CD as well. Great to throw in the player while driving.

I never did get around to purchasing this disc. Does Derek get the chance to shine on it?

For a while there, I was working on getting all of the albums that Derek appears on. There are many. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere?

Only $9.99 on iTunes for 14 songs; what a deal! Yes, Derek plays on 4 songs (I believe) and absolutely does shine. He has such a distinct sound, you know it's him the moment you hear his guitar. You will not be disappointed in this CD. Grin

I agree Rob, great CD while driving. We drove all the way from the Bay Area to Red Rocks last July to see Neil Young, and this CD was heavy on the playlist. With a nice tip from Lee who posts here, stayed at the Denver Marriott West, where Neil and the band were staying. Talked to some of his roadies in the parking lot and got some pics of his tour bus and equipment trailer with fine paintings on the outsides of both.

When we got back, Neil had announced a new date at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, only 20 minutes from our house, LOL! Oh well, it was a great road trip and saw some beautiful country. Plus, visiting Colorado has some side benefits. 😉

OK, I finally got this CD!!

The first listen fooled me. It is fairly low key, as I might have expected from JJ Cale, and so I didn't listen as closely as I might have.

However, with each subsequent listen, I get more and more out of it. Great grooves, wonderful vibe. The Derek bits are great, but it is the songs themselves and the full interplay of all involved that really make the record.

Albert Lee sure does burn!

Glad you invested in it Jim ... it is a lovely laid back CD and exudes the warmth and friendship that JJ and EC had and that I think Derek really enjoyed too ...

Derek’s turn on Who Am I Loving You is just sublime.

And his solo on Missing Person is cool too.

Beyond Derek. Yup, the whole record is really really good.

"Well, I met this old woman
She was hard as nails
I think that she just come out
Of the County jail

But I loaned her some money
Just to pay her rent
If I would, she would put me
In her last will and testament

Well, I got lots of children
An ex-wife or two
I never hear from them
Till the bills are due"
