The photos inside At Fillmore East are from Fillmore West

Just came across this interview from Gregg from a few years back. Interesting...

DE: Is there a snapshot somewhere in your head of the Fillmore other than the one you’ve seen on the album cover all these years?
GA: Actually there kind of is. First of all, the pictures on the Fillmore East record were taken… at the Fillmore West. (laughs) Not many people know that. (laughs) Ain’t that something? Because the Fillmore East was like a theater and the Fillmore West had these silk things hanging from the ceiling. And when you open it, the picture that’s right here you can still see all those silk tapestries hanging from the ceiling. That was a stone hippie place.

And the front cover of the band and back cover of the roadies were taken in Macon, Georgia.

The photos with the brick wall background were I believe across the street from Capricorn Studios.
I always thought the brick wall was in a NYC alley by The Fillmore East.

Everything you ever wanted know about the cover of AFE!

Soooo....this explains why one of the shots from INSIDE At Fillmore East appears on the BACK COVER of Fillmore West '71!?!?!?(too bad that was not mentioned in Lynskey's essay for the latter!?!?!)

would love to see the photos not used for the lafe album especially the ones in front of the marquee

What a great idea!?!?!?....Wonder if that was ever discussed!?...Or simply dismissed as too expensive by those making the (final) decisions?
