The Muscle Shoals Sound Finally Gets Its Due-NY TIMES

[Edited on 7/22/2015 by dadof2]

Thanks for the link, Effie.

That's certainly a great article, but I would love to see some of the lesser known and more recent 'Shoals musicians (guess you can't call all of them "swampers") get some recognition - especially since Rick Hall refers to other musicians that played in sessions when the swampers left him.
No mention of folks like Eddie Hinton (played on a bunch of Staples Singers stuff, and stuff like R.B. Greaves "Take a Letter Maria"), Wayne Perkins (officially announced by Rolling Stone's management as Mick Taylor's replacement ... until Ron Wood became available), Kelvin Holly (musical director for Little Richard - incredible picker! Plays with a bunch of folks) or even Johnny Sandlin or Mac McAnally (Jimmy Buffet's guitarist, but I prefer his own records).
There are so many stories to tell about so many great players from that area. It just seems that only the surface ever gets scratched.
