It's interesting that Warren cites a Steely Dan album in this list. I love Steely Dan, but I don't think of them as improvisers. I may need some educatin' on this matter.

I have heard several people say that Little Feat's "Waiting For Columbus" is one of the greatest live records ever.  I have never even heard it.  Now that Warren is saying it............it's NEXT on my bucketlist.

@robslob Waiting For Columbus is fantastic! For a few years in the 1970's I played it almost as much as Fillmore East.

Both of the guitar players are gone now. Payne is fantastic on piano.

Thank you for sharing. I'm a little surprised there's not more jazz fusion or world music on the list for jamming;  I guess it is directed more towards the "jam scene" audience. Somewhat related, I always loved when Derek joined Mule for Billy Cobham's 'Stratus' from the Spectrum album.

Wow, what an impressive list!  I agree with most of it.

Rob, a good friend turned me on to Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus just a few years ago.  I played it every day for 2 weeks, might have been 3.  It's THAT good!

@rationalrebel:  That was RIDICULOUS!!  Thanks for sharing.  Proof positive that Warren and Derek together can go wherever they want to go (but any fan of latter day ABB would know that).  Especially when backed by The Mule!

@billastro Warren has At Fillmore East on his list. The ONLY Allman Brothers Band album on the list.

Interesting Warren included Sly And The Family Stone.

Whether with Jimmy or Derek, the last minute or so they segue into the melody of "Red Baron" another song that appears on Cobham's "Spectrum" release.

Caught a DTB sound check back in the day (2003) where they jammed on "Red Baron" although I don't believe they ever actually played it in concert.

There was some fun cable TV program that featured different musicians jamming together. Derek was one of the people on it; they did Red Baron on that.

BET Studio Jams was the program. Derek, Oteil, Kofi and Chuck Leavell were featured on various episodes.

Here it is -  Derek, Kofi, Yonrico Scott, Oteil, Jeff Coffin, and Vernon Reid.  Pretty killer band for a one off jam:

This Tuesday*, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Phil Lesh Quintet.

This could be the last time given age and scheduling.

*Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday…doh.
