The best small club music experience ever!!!

This video is really, really good quality but still only gives you an idea of how hard these guys blew the roof off The Irving Plaza during this song. For best results, surround yourself with Huge speakers, 500 reved up fans and turn it up LOUD! So happy to find this video. Best musical experience I have ever had in a small club (possibly any venue) by far:

Who's on drums? That's not Matt Abts.

Wow. Glad to see this !
I'm pretty sure that's Matt, just with short hair. I was at this and it was awesome. I think Bernie Worrell sat in that night. Just incredible. I have very fond memories of the Mule at Irving Plaza. 98 - Dose release party. I knew they were not messing around. That album is incredible and they just played it start to finish. I was up front and to this day, I think that's the show that has made me content to hang in the back of the room. Just crazy loud.
99 - Live with a little help from our friends. I think they did 2 shows and maybe even a week apart. Not sure if this was the first or second night.
00 - Life before Insanity release party. Wow ! Great memories. Might have been the last time I saw Woody with the Mule but I got to see him that summer with Blue Floyd. Then you know the rest... 🙁
It's funny that they ended up at big venues after Woody died. I think the influx of fans of all the various bass players like Dave Schools etc created the need for the larger venues like Roseland.
All these shows were during ABB beacon runs . Not much got done for me in March in the late 90's

Yes they played the week before on the 17th. Bernie, Derek, Oteil, and Bobby Sheehan sat in this night and maybe a few others. It is Matt. Woody in a club was a guaranteed butt kicking.

Wott a GREAT ride! So good...I got right back on and took it again. 😛
Sure miss that band....
To me, one of the best parts of the clip is actually seeing everyone watching the band, instead of running their mouths and taking selfies!
Sure miss concerts of old...
