In the Stone article linked above, John Lennon pretty much said exactly the same thing, which is why the White Album sounds so different than prior Beatles - much more natural, not so contrived and overproduced.

I thought that was an interesting take for him to have. I’ve got the “Anthology” series with those out takes. Really good listening.

I got a boatload of Beatles outtakes, etc., years ago from http://manuelbeatlogs.blogspot.com/ . Downloading is easy (with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see -- no, wait! I got sidetracked!). Search through ARCHIVO DEL BLOG for more.

. . .there is almost no attempt in this new set to be anything but what the Beatles actually are: John, Paul, George and Ringo. Four different people, each with songs and styles and abilities. They are no longer Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and it is possible that they are no longer the Beatles.

I would argue that they were Beatles in that they still played together and influenced each other's music.
Their post Beatles music wasn't quite the same, with some rare exceptions
