I had never heard of them until watching a documentary about CSNY recently.  Blew me away.  Bill Wyman was quoted he'd have quit the Stones to be part of it.  I got a cd of their original album and it kicks ass.  No wonder Bill wanted to join them.  Put it and Exile On Main Street in the rotation and hit shuffle.  You're set!

Please share!

To me Manassas is nothing short of a mind-boggling record and IMO is probably the greatest thing that Stephen Stills ever did.  And that's a MOUTHFUL.................

An older brother of mine had a copy of the Manassas album and would play it endlessly when I was a young lad.  Many years later, in the late 90’s, a dear friend of mine burned a copy of the cd version and I’ve been spinning it regularly ever since.

I agree it’s a masterpiece and an example of how incredibly talented Steven Stills is as both musician, writer, producer, etc...One thing I think people don’t realize is just how vital Stills is to every band he’s ever been a part of.

Saw 'em in '72 in Knoxville. Rhythm section of Dallas Taylor and Fuzzy Samuels was badass.

The more I listen to the music of Stephen Stills I enjoy it. His music incorporates all Genre. Love his playing and singing combination. He came thorough my town several years ago with Crosby and Nash glad I got to witness that show for sure!

It is my firm belief that Manassas is Stills best effort. He surrounded himself with an outstanding band and produced a great musical legacy. I don't mean to diminish CSN or CSNY but this album was outstanding. I regret not having seen them live!

You know what, me too.  Kind of like the ABB, I was late to the party.  I'm really appreciating his musicianship both as a guitarist and a singer.  Better late than never!

I loved Manassas too. Smile Have y'all ever heard Stephen Stills and KWS in The Rides? I haven't, but hope to some day.

Always loved Manassas and have the first CD in my workout rotation.

Stills is amazing and I always think of his quote where he described Bob Dylan. He said Dylan is a great songwriter but he's no musician.

Cleary Stills has all of those talents; singer songwriter and musician. The most coveted of combinations.

Been a big Manassas fan from the get go. There’s an unreleased album out there which I have on mp3. Some pretty good stuff on it but I think it sounds unfinished. The first album is a very good recording. The second album seems unnecessarily loud to me but of still love it. The title track, Down The Road, has some fantastic Joe Walsh slide guitar. Hope I’m not being redundant but the song, Blues Man, from the first album is about Duane Allman, Jimi Hendrix, and Alan Wilson.
