When these boys are on - it doesn't matter the lineup - they are gold.

Dickey is absolutely killer here. One of my favorite Statesboro Blues - I find Dickey really had some Duane in there.

This is one of two shows the Allman Brothers Band did in 1986. I remember Dickey said in 1986 that due to record company problems and declining support of the band and changing tastes in music, they decided to back the band out in 1982 and they were doing this as a favor to Charlie Daniels for his Volunteer Jam and that he and Gregg aren't interested in doing an Allman Brothers tour. Dickey then explained that he and Gregg's bands had been touring smaller venues on the same bill with the two bands merging for a third set of Allman Brothers music but they were not billing that as the Allman Brothers. I was expecting David Goldflies on bass and David Toler on drums but the show didn't have a regular bass player. Their bass players from their solo bands alternated depending the song. And Jaimoe was back which was as it should be.

Also when I saw the Gregg Allman/ Dickey Betts tour in 1986 at a club in Winston Salem, North Carolina, the club DID bill it on radio, print and the big sign at the nightclub as the Allman Brothers Band.

When the show began it was Dickey's band and he came to the mic and said " We don't have anything to do with this false advertising here. We don't call this the Allman Brothers. Butch Trucks and Jaimoe aren't here tonight".

Gregg, Dickey and Dan Toler played very well that night. I got on the edge on the dance floor next to the little stage for the third set and it was exciting to be so close to Dickey and Dan Toler. I could have leaned over and touched their legs on that small stage and Gregg's organ angled with part of it on the edge of the stage.

It was also sad for me as a fan from 1970 to see Gregg and Dickey together and in such a small venue. Maximum seating at the tables and standing on the dance floor was 500. It seemed they were back in clubs with all they worked so hard to achieve lost. Neither Gregg or Dickey had a record deal in 1986 either.

They are playing before a huge crowd for Charlie Daniels in Nashville and Dickey and Gregg are both real good.

The other 1986 show I believe was for Bill Graham in New York City for crack and drug awareness. Gregg probably felt awkward:)
