Though the ABB is not playing anymore - over the last month the TTB w Jimmy Herring crushed Liz Reed and Gov't Mule with John Scofield played insane versions of Kind of Bird and Instrumental Illness, and Warren and Krsasno played a killer Blue Sky wih Phil & Friends., The ABB may be done - but what a legacy.

One BS excuse at a time...sure
Dickey's brother Joel passed away recently

Minimizing his legacy? His shows are 90% his ABB material
Anyone who appreciates music knows the magnitude of the caliber of musician Dickey Betts is -- cacellations or no -- he's 71 years old & other priorities have come in

I wish the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra would put together an orchestral program of Dickie's instrumentals. I think it would stand as one of the best marriages of rock and the symphony ever performed.

Does anyone really think that anything Dickey, Gregg, Butch and Jaimoe does at this point will have any bearing on their legacy? Any historic relevance was set long ago...

Recently being a month and a half ago. But he cancelled all of May. Don't forget starting last December his brother was the reason for cancellations.

The BS isn't that his brother died, but the fact that they've been using that as an excuse for what will be at least 6 months. I'm quite sure Dickey is functioning and leaving the house. He just doesn't give a crap aanymore.

If he has other priorities he could choose to stop touring. Then he could do whatever he wanted without letting fans down. Novel idea right?

Uhhh ... just wondering if you've ever had the heartache of watching a brother or sister (different than with a parent) waste away while being consumed by a disease? I've had 3 episodes like this, and I can tell you that it is a taxing experience physically and emotionally. And yes, it can take a lot of time - cancer (and other diseases) don't operate on anybody's schedule. You can call it "BS" if you want, but I'll disagree.
