Alan, thanks for taking on this project. Stevie Ray was and will always be one of the great Blues Guitarists. I saw him at the Spectrum in Nov. of 89 and passed on his show @ the Mann during the Summer of '90, because I could always see him next time. I've regretted that decision ever since. That show at the Spectum is still one of the best shows I've ever seen. Made my way up to the stage just to be mesmerized by his playing.

Of all the shows I've been too, this is one that I'll never forget. Must've been like that to see Hendrix in person. Can't wait to read this book.

All material in the book comes from first hand interviews by the authors.

Same formula which made One Way Out such a great book. Awesome.

Looking forward to this! I have already 3 excellent books on SRV but would still be interested in a 4th publication. Normally when i see books or documentaries being advertised as "the inside story of....." it's being met by my hestitation, restraint or whatever i should call it. Exactly who "on the inside" has been interviewed and how thoroughly have those interviews been conducted? Have they been done by the author / filmmaker or is he only quoting other people's work? Are those being interviewed objective enough or way too positive / negative because they have their own agenda.... But from the info i get the feeling that the authors got it right! All key persons from Stevie's private life and music career are mentioned. So i have a good feeling about this. Just like "One Way Out" turned out to be a damn fine read.

Thanks. To the best of my knowledge, no other book has ever had the cooperation of Jimmie, Tommy, Chris and Reese... and as important as they are, that's just the tip of the iceberg. We've spoken to old band members, friends, producers, girlfriends, managers...

Wow, I'm sure you're going to get insight into Stevie that we haven't heard before. Maybe enough time has passed that everyone is willing to share their stories now. I'm sure that it's still painful for them to relive it. Send our thanks to Andy as well. It will be almost 30 years by then. Man how the time flies by.

These 2 awesome books are no biographies but chronological information about all his recordings, touring, etc. with tons of cool pictures. 2 similar books have been made by other authors about Clapton but i find these 2 SRV publications far more entertaining / better executed:

Stevie Ray Vaughn is a giant in blues rock. Likely brought it back into the mainstream after years of out of favor through the 1980s.

Alan. I have a friend in the UK and I was told a similar book about Gary Moore geared to the western Europe market likely would be a success.

To me Stevie is part of the cornerstone of the blues and blues rock world. Stevie, the 3 Kings, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins etc.

I also have Caught in the Crossfire.

@ABBDutchFan - Thanks. I know them all well. The Hopkins books are interesting and were helpful for us in terms of timeline. Crossfire is well written and has some good info. I bought it on release and enjoyed it. There are some things in there that are... not quite right.

Yeah, "Crossfire" was a fine read. But it's written a long time ago. The author probably didn't have full access to all key persons in SRV's (music) life. His tragic death was "still fresh" and painfull for family, friends and fellow musicians. I guess they were very reluctant to "open up" and didn't want to be connected to any publications that might tarnish SRV's legacy. Being protective of that legacy. "Crossfire" was written with the best intensions but maybe Jimmie was afraid proposed books / articles might dwell on the negative and gossip. Well, just my 2 cents.

I got nothing for you here... I just do as i'm told and set up a place to make the announcement. I would prefer to do it like six months out.. publishing is very slow... we've turned the book in and are waiting to get it back, start proofreading, etc... that will take a while but we will be totally done a good 4 months before release.. then you just sit and cool your heels... Hopefully I'll get another project started in that downtime... I'd rather have less tim ein between them, though I never expected to be talking about OWO for so long.

I do have those two Hopkins books. I look forward to getting this one next year.
