Tedeschi/Trucks Band, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, CO, 7/28/23

Instead of writing it out again, here's a copy and paste of what I just posted on Facebook. I ONE HUNDRED PERCENT just got turned on to this band last night. Covers (some of which will be up on YouTube eventually) were the opener Woman To Woman (Joe Cocker), Stay With Me (Faces), Walk On Guilded Splinters (Dr. John), Show Me (Joe Tex), Keep On Smilin' (Wet Willie), Come And Go Blues (ABB).
RED ROCKS DISCLAIMER: I must add this for anyone who is getting up there in age like myself and/or has body issues: This place is very, very difficult to negotiate. It's a LONG and very very steep climb to get from the parking lot up to the seating area. Fortunately we were able to hire a cab for $20 to take us to the top. Walking down was rough though. And if you have to use the restroom during the show (fortunately I didn't), the climb back up would be a complete nightmare. Not only that but you sit on benches with NO back support whatsoever. I'm really glad I saw the place and TTB just blew my mind, but I must warn you because I'm 68 years old, had complex lumbar surgery five years ago, have chronic lower back issues and two heart procedures within the last year. This is a venue for a crowd younger and healthier than me and I would not return.

Sorry to hear of the logistics issues with the venue...I've never been...Glad you finally caught the show that turned the corner for you. Yes Susan can play!!

Glad you saw an awesome show. As much as I love and miss Kofi's playing, TTB is playing better than ever right now. I saw 3 shows in January and each one was bananas. A lot of that has to do with I Am the Moon, there's a lot more original material the band can feature than they could even 10 years ago. Which is kind of nuts when you remember the band has been going for 14 years - the Allman Brothers had broken up twice during the same amount of time.

@goldtop I saw this show earlier on TV about a week afterwards.
Susan comes in for a fantastic blues solo on the heels of Eric Clapton who was one of the most famous guitarists in the world when she and Derek were born.
But that doesn't intimidate Susan and Derek. They are too good themselves to be bothered!!
And remember Duane Allman froze when he saw Clapton on the front row in 1970 in Miami and Dickey had to turn his back to Clapton to keep from freezing up himself. Gregg later said he almost froze too when he realized Clapton was sitting right down front.
Great blues from Susan!!

Robslob - agree Red Rocks is not easy to navigate, no backing to the seats is tough. I am guessing the venue is ADA compliant.
The venue is incredibly beautiful and will never be satisfied till i see a great show there like TTB. I acknowledge the uphill climb at
altitude. I am glad you got to see this show at that incredible venue.
