This was a very enjoyable show.

While I had heard the name, I had not seen nor heard Taz until this broadcast tonight. Very enjoyable.

He has a really nice mix: he has a good tone, overdriven but still full, not made generic or thin by distortion. He plays vintage blues licks but not slavish, like an SRV impersonator, and he has some shred, but it's not by the numbers. Very interesting mix. His pick attack creates some nice overtones. He knows how to build a solo, how to build up to some peak moments.

He also had his ears wide open so that he could groove rhythm or trade licks but then also hit the key moments in simultaneous soloing. Yeah, it was bad ass.

I also love seeing Derek being the director of swapping licks, orchestrating the back and forth from Taz to Derek to Kofi to Taz. Derek knows how to build the joyful noise. The poor video camera operator got left behind a few times, but that's OK.

I also enjoyed Taz, especially on Statesboro Blues. I concur, the kid can play! Another virtuoso disciple of the late, great Colonel.

There was also a short but sweet video documentary about Kofi at the end- he was an incredible musician- the greatest keyboard player I've ever seen, not to mention flute player. With perfect pitch, serious chops and super funk, he was Derek's right hand man and soul brother. He will be missed. What a tragic loss at such an early age...

I too liked Taz. It read up on him and he plays so well to be so young. Just like Derek. Already has a custom guitar from D'Angelico guitars called the Atlantic. Best of luck to the new kid on the block.

It was Taz soloing when the Colonel collapsed on stage.
