And of course she so horrible they repeatedly put her on stage to sing and play guitar. More times than I can count......So why did they do that????.....because she's the worst ever and they wanted repeatedly remind us or to embarrass her or themselves with her lousy playing and singing????

Just curious on what would lead them down that path......

Band and Meeting: Hey guys let's let that lady geetar player sit in because she really sucks and can't sing....Yeah....lets let the world know....Yeah lets.....Hey lets let her on stage every time we play the Beacon so we can ruin at least one show each run....yeah lets do that.....

Well...you are talking about a band who repeatedly let Dickey Betts on stage. And we know how much he sucks...

Damn...there I go gettin' off topic again...

What an ignorant thing to say..... not quite as ignorant as Yoko or she's average like an eighth grader but ignorant just the same.

Instead of name calling, why not try countering a statement with which you disagree by offering your own opinion, and offer some facts to back it up. For example by saying Susan's 1998 album was Grammy nominated, and that was a year before she met Derek.

I didn't call anyone anything.... I just stated my opinion that it was an ignorant statement.

I think most here are well aware that Susan was quite accomplished before her and Derek met but still continue to slag her and I'm tired of seeing it over and over again with comments like "she would be nothing without the allman brothers connection."

I agree with you. I saw her a few times before the ABB connection and she was great. Saw her with Shemika Copleland (Johnny's daughter) years ago and they were great. Probably early 90s.

To not care for an artist is fine; simply a matter of taste. But some of the things posted about Susan here really blow my mind.

Looking forward to it.

Can we agree that if she was not married to Derek, we would not be discussing her on this website ?

Edit: or discussed about as much as, say Bonnie Raitt ?

Some here would sooner walk into the local IRS office and announce they'd cheated on their taxes, and have the documentation in hand to confirm it.

I'm a casual fan of Wanda Jackson, the "Queen of Rockabilly". Another genre about as vast Best Female Blues Artist. You show up, there's a good chance you take the honors.

I would not have heard of Jack Pearson were it not for this site, and in fact I am not sure I have really seen mention of him outside of this site. That is one of the reasons I am grateful for this site. Jack kicks butt!!

I like Susan but will certainly admit that her connection to Derek is what got me interested in her. For that matter, I loved the DTB but have not pursued Scrap O Matic. I saw them once and enjoyed it, but they did not have Derek Trucks, so.....

I love Susan, Just sayin'.

I was reading about some of the guests and thought about when I saw the ABB Beacon show with Johnny Winter and how great it was, It was sloppy, but Warren was paying some attention to Johnny orchestrating the leads and such to close out the 1st set. Then they closed with Taylor Hicks on harp, It didn't give me the same warm and fuzzies?

Here's a listen.....

Bernie Williams is a good example of someone who would not be mentioned as a musician on this site without the ABB connection. I was at the Beacon show and thought Bernie and Taylor were in the same class, as far as musicians go.

My immediate thought after hearing that they sat in and some others of lesser skill levels, why didn't they ask me? But it's cool. If for some reason, the ABB wanted them to jam then so be it. I'm better. LOL

So are many others from this site without a doubt.

I got a good laugh at one show in Gilford. Sitting with some friends and we chat a bit with the couple sitting next to us. At one point, they head off and 10 minutes later the ABB brings out a guest. My buddy turns and says isn't that the guy sitting beside us? Sure enough it was. It was Warren's friend Mike Barnes. It was funny as we were in the front section but further back. It was the guy from Row 40 getting up with the band. For a moment I considered if we had been dosed. Good for a laugh.

That show on 08/25/06 was a smoker as Stephen can confirm. Mt Jam goes on forever. Will have to put that on now. Done Somebody Wrong opens and they were on fire right from the start. If I have the right year, it absolutely poured rain about an hour or so before show time. Missed out on some people like Stephen because of it. I remember sitting in the car with the rain just hammering the windshield wondering if it would delay things. It stopped and actually cleared to a degree. Felt sorry for those who were soaked and on the lawn. Govt Mule opened.

What I'm most surprised about is nobody was accused Susan of breaking up the ABB.....Derek wants to leave to play with TTB....so it must be Susan's fault..... 😛

Just thought I'd add a little fuel to the fire.... 😮

Well...there was this.
"You gotta' admit....when it comes to destroying a band, Susan may be a Yoko, but she ain't no Dickey Betts! 😛 😉

Not that I'm comparing or anything.... "

When Gregg started to take naps during Derek's solos, it pretty much started a chain of events. That makes Gregg out to be Paul so I guess Warren is John and by default Derek becomes George so that means Susan would be Patti.

Butch is Ringo but with more ego, less humor and likely less alcohol. Jaimoe/Oteil are too mellow for all the soap opera. Marc is Billy Preston!

If Susan is actually Patti then perhaps keeping her away from Clapton might be a good move? 😮

If Clapton releases some epic rock classic about the love of his life, Derek better keep a close eye on the situation.

Yeah at his age instead of "bell bottom blues" it'll be "little blue pill blues"....
