Sunshine Blues Fest reviews?

I was waylaid by some illness and gave my tickets away for St. Pete. Any details to be had?
Blooby

Wasn't there but Jerry Douglas sat in on Keep on Growing

Next time someone interviews Derek, he needs to be asked where he gets all of his fantastic tshirts.

I believe this came up here before and this was the answer.

Jerry Douglas band sounded pretty good. Jorma Kaokunen was delightful and perfect for that time of day.
The revivalists were surprisingly good. Everybody was having a blast. I'm not completely sold on the lead singer but that whole band rocks.
I really enjoyed Hard Working Americans. They were a little bit rough around the edges but I miss that southern rock sound. The lead singer is combination of Chris Robinson, Steve Marriott and Ronnie Van Zandt. He's a good frontman to say the least.
Trombone Shorty was the biggest highlight for sure. That Green Day cover he does is amazing. The other guy on sax in that band is also amazing.
That was best I've ever heard Karl Denson sound. What a nice sounding tight band he's assembled. Don't know who the kid is on lead guitar but he's a monster. I moved up just to get a closer look. He sounded a lot like Derek Trucks and made it look so easy. They also threw in a nice Bowie tune Young Americans. Crowd ate it up.
I thought Indigo Girls sounded good but my friends couldn't understand how they made it on the lineup at all. Susan came out and helped them sing one their songs at the end.
Tedeschi/Trucks were on point as usual. A few songs in they slipped a Bowie tune in. I didn't recognize the song but you can tell it was Bowie. Mattison sang and he did Bowie well. I also throughly enjoyed the trippy Miles Davis stuff they have going on. I do wish I'd hear those words "please welcome to the stage" more often. I know they have a pretty big band as it is but that's two years in row they didn't invite anyone up at the Sunshine Festival. I love when folks sit in at festivals add something different.
Mizner Park has always been a great place to see a show but the general admission is turning into a disaster. There is paid seating up front, a walkway in the middle (where security doesn't want you standing) and then lawn area in back which was filled with blankets, leaving nowhere for thousands to see the show. By the end people filled in the walkway cause there were too many people. The blankets are a disaster. I'll suck it up and buy a seat next time. It's not fun watching the show from a million miles away or walking around the whole time.
After the show we walked over to the funky biscuit to check out the after show with Devon Allman and friends. The show was sold out and they weren't letting anyone in. There were four in our group and we managed to get three of us in but not the fourth so we all bailed. We could have got our fourth friend in but the owner or guy at the door was freaking out, screaming at people. It was ugly so we decided it wasn't worth it but I'm sorry we missed Greg Allman - that would have been a treat to see in such a small place. I would have also loved to see Albert Castiglia (he's a great bluesman) sit in with Devon.

St Pete was great. KDTU was the highlight for me. Their cover of Steely Dan's Show Business Kids was the highlight of the day for me, plus a few new songs from an upcoming album..The first act, Joanne Shaw Taylor was a pleasant surprise.
TTB was good but I thought their set was a little short. It looks like they played more at Boca than St. Pete. Jerry Douglas came out and played Keep on Growing with them.
The frontman for Hardworking Americans is Todd Snider. I've always liked him as a solo artist. nI enjoyed their set, particularly their cover of Jerry Jeff Walker's, Don't it Make You Want to Dance
