Anyone else just love this guys stuff!?

1st album was old school 'outlaw' country
2nd album was like a country/psychedelic mix
New release...horns! WTH!?

It took me a couple listens to really get "A sailors Guide to Earth" but it is just fantastic in my opinion. Totally genre bending. The influences could be described as Otis Redding, Jimmy Buffet, and Waylon Jennings, old school rock all thrown in a blender.

With no ABB, and the family bands just not doing it for me on recent releases, thank heavens for Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson.

Awesome Stuff. I hope success doesn't change Chris Stapleton, would love to hear more jamey Johnson as well.

Anderson East is another one of Cobbs directions - he is another old school sounding Muscle Shoals soul

Good stuff! Is the whole album strong?

I like Chris Stapleton but don't love him like so many other people do. I actually like his Steel Drivers stuff better than his solo album.

Really like this:

I saw him last year when he came to Eugene and wasn't impressed at all. Did like the lead guitarist, but thought his talents were being wasted. Just not my cup of tea, I guess. I did try to get into it, but it didn't work for me.

I only know the song "Welcome To Earth" which i really dig. Indeed totally genre bending. Song starts with a bit of progrock-style intro than becomes a dramatic piano ballad which mid song suddenly shifts into a beautiful up tempo soul song.
