Stanley Jordan plays Jimi Hendrix

just picked up front row tix for this show in NJ. Should be pretty interesting!!

Please take video if you can, really interested in this. I was into him 30 years ago but lost track of him.

I never saw him, but I love his innovative playing, The hammer downs playing rhythm with his fret hand. I may have to check that out. I have to dig out Magic Touch (the only disc I have by him), When he does the Beatles tunes it's special, but my fav was The Lady In My Life....
Another innovative guy is coming to NYC Alexandr Misko, Here's his take on We Will Rock You...

I saw Stanley Jordan back when he first came into the public consciousness; I had purchased his disc, and it seemed a little tame / sterile (though I was new to jazz), but I did want to go see him to observe his craft. This was the late 80s, pre-Youtube!
The show was called "Alone Together" - it was Stanley Jordan by himself, and Bobby McFerrin by himself. McFerrin was great!! This was before "Don't Worry Be Happy" drove the world nuts. But Stanley Jordan was wonderful - a master of his craft, and much more exciting live than on his early albums.
