Space pioneer John Glenn dies at 95

Now the man is really in the Heavens.
When my son Sean was around 10 he became very interested in space and wrote to him. He answered Sean back with a autographed picture and a very nice letter, saying to always reach for your dreams and how glad he was the another young man from Ohio had space interest. I though it was very nice of him being so personal and not just a standard form letter. A true American Hero.

That's a sweet story. I've driven by the space museum in Ohio many times.

Neat place, I haven't been there in a long time.
Might have to make a visit, Cincinnati isn't that far from it.

when i was 14 my parents took us on vacation to washington d.c. where we visited the smithsonian institution. one of the memories that has stuck with me all these years later was how tiny, cramped and fragile looking the friendship 7 capsule was. the courage that john glenn had to get into that capsule and do what he did is greater than i could ever muster up! and then to go back into space at 77 years old - hell i can barely get my ass off the couch some days and i'm nowhere near 77!
r.i.p. senator - you are a true hero for the ages.
