Wondered how the general public was reacting to Southern Blood's release.

Now in second week on the charts at #8. Opened at #5.

Looks like some real recognition although I am sure the age demographic is pretty skewed.

I don't listen to much mainstream radio of any kind these days, but it would be a shame if some of this material did not make it to the classic rock stations, the country stations, or the adult alternative stations. It's a beautiful album that sounds fresh and contemporary and classic at the same time. More people should hear it.

your post should clarify which chart as thats not the positions for the billboard 200 which is the big chart . it opened at #11 on that chart and is down to somewhere in the 31 after week 2

Matt,

This is the link that I used today.
http://www.billboard.com/charts/top-album-sales
Would seem to be "the" chart.

Don't understand the discrepancy. Do you have another link?

I think I might have a reason for the discrepancy. I think the chart I looked at was for total sales while the top 200 is the weekly update.

Yeah I hear you. I tuned out of terrestrial radio for the most part probably a good 10-12 yrs ago due to the same old stuff, which some has been ruined for me(that's another thread.)
I highly doubt when a "classic rock band " or an artist from that era puts out new music it rarely would get a sniff on the radio. Maybe in a larger market ,specialty station, it will , but not for along.
Some stations might give it a spin for a few when it first comes out, but then its back to the old same old same old. It's a shame.

There is a station in Bloomington, Ind 92.3 does a pretty good job. Its a college town so they are kind of of all over the map. I have heard newer(classic rock) material on there ,they play some contemporary stuff, alt rock and etc. I really only hear that station when I am riding with my wife. she listens quite a bit.

I heard Ian Paice make an interesting statement on a podcast earlier this year about music.

You can make the best record at the wrong time and it will disappear without a trace. You can make the worst record at the right time and have a major hit. There’s no logic to anything that goes on in our business.

Like I mentioned, its a shame. A lot of good/great music never gets the attention it deserves.

The local public radio/npr station has a show on Saturday nights called Blues House Party, and the host Matt Socey will play new blues stuff on there. He spun a tune from Greggs latest a few weeks ago. You can stream that station on line if you are interested.
