Jack Pearson's livelyhood is not fucked up. He plays in Nashville regularly. He is playing here tonight and tomorrow night, giving a clinic tomorrow.

Are you dense? This relates to his time with the ABB. He got off the road and really cut back on gigs until he felt he could play again. Gee hoe great to lose your olush gig cause you have a selfish jacka** bandmate who also pissed the rest of the band off with his stage volume stupidity.

Ask any musician if they want to lose their hearing, oh by your POV they are all just waiting in the wings to lose it playing with a "legend' right?

That is sarcasm in case you can't even figure that out.

The way I read it, JP had a pre-existing tinnitus condition which may have been aggravated while playing with the ABB.

To try to blame it all on Dickey is stretching a point.

My lack of everyday hearing is my own fault. I always brought plugs but rarely used them. I certainly don't blame Dickey for that. Play it loud right?

Rock on Jack, I've got an ABB comp of his years in the band, time to go look for it...

"hoe great to lose your olush gig"

I agree.

Sometimes this place can be so funny. Humor is a good thing.

I get how some don't like or judge Dickey but how is it possible to be even madder at him than Jack? They seem to be fine. And again that was almost 20 years ago so why the anger? Dickey is not perfect and neither is anyone else.

Career wise Jack has benefitted from the ABB connection is a huge way. Vast majority of people on here would have no clue who he is without it. It was a shame and unfortunate about his hearing and the fact that Dickey plays so loud. Dickey does. Been in front of those stacks many times and Dickey likes to feel it shake.

But Jack is a big boy and could have walked after a single show if he wanted. He made the decision to walk to protect his hearing which was the right choice. At that stage even if Dickey agreed to bring the volume down Jack could not have handled it nightly on tour anyway. There is only so much that the volume can be dropped at shows and venues that size.

I love Jack and thank the ABB for introducing him and his playing to me.

Early Govt Mule doubled Dickey's volume. Hearing took a hit at those shows.

Why, yes I am dense! Tell you what, when I see Jack today at the clinic I'll share your erudite observations with him.

As CanadianMule said no one held a gun to his head.

But keep on enjoying the Betts hate...let it flow through you.

I said the same thing, nobody made Jack play with them.

And yes, Gov't Mule was THAT loud.

One of my favorite ABB shows was in the summer of 2005 when Warren was absent for whatever reason. Jack filled in. They didn't play one song recorded after Eat A Peach. Ron Holloway sat in for much of it.

Some folks were upset/pissed that Warren wasn't there but it was great. I enjoyed the heck out of it and so did several us us from the site.

Jack is awesome. Smile

I have the Clarkstown, MI, show and it is awesome. That show is mostly 1969-73 material, and the "Mountain Jam" is one of my favorites. Jack, Derek, & Ron were a great fit. The "Dreams" the Jack plays on from the Fox Box is maybe my favorite version of the song.

I saw one Dickey & Jack show in Sept 1998 and Jack was sitting on a stool the whole show, still playing lights out. A lot of people didn't know who he was, and thought he was just super chill (overalls and kangoll hat and all - like Leon Redbone's country cousin). When I told them he had just had an appendectomy they were even more blown away and grateful he toughed it out and made the gig.

The Allman Brothers have always been LOUD. There doesn't seem to be any ill will between Jack and Dickey. I'm glad he is in a place where he can play where, when, and what he wants to. That's not easy for many talented musicians. He was the MVP of Wanee 2016.

As I age my mind and eye sight fail me on occasion, this seems to be one of them. I can't seem to recall making that obviously insane statement nor can I find it in my posts looking back.

My biggest fear is my kids reading this type of stuff and confirming what they believe. Dad is losing it. Before I know it they will have me living at the Shady Acres Retirement Prison.

I am going to blame the Phish lovers for dosing my beer as even people with dementia know that Jack White Sucks.

Now if I post a comment about how good Phil Lesh sings, please contact my family as even people like Effie can not help. Restraints may be needed.

Maybe we can get Jack and Phil to do a show in the facility the kids place you in. 😉

Please tell me that we are talking Jack Pearson. If it is Jack White then that is a clear case of abuse of the elderly and/or mentally challenged.

Good Lord!!!! What if they bring Meg to play the drums???

That show is AWESOME! I had a dilemma that weekend. I still lived in Michigan but my girlfriend at the time lived in Chicago. So I opted to come to Chicago. She would have been rather upset (to put it lightly) had I came into town for one day to see an ABB show (I did take her with me) and then got up early to go back to Michigan for another ABB show the next morning.

That Mountain Jam from Clarkston is epic.

In hindsight, I made the wrong decision based on how the relationship turned out. 😉
