Sco-Mule Best of the Run?

Any suggestions for "best of the run" shows? The 3/3 with Branford caught my eye (and ears) but would like to download a few more.

Seattle first night of run and didn't miss a beat. Oh and it was the only show I saw.

I love the Charlottesville show.
But I gotta say that the last night had some amazing moments. I think the first three songs of the second set might be the best 48 minutes of live music in the last 20 years.
Boogie Stupid > Things Ain't What They Used to Be, Stratus
Just some amazing music there.

Charlottesville, Seattle, Durham in no particular order. I haven't listened to the Boston shows yet. I'll update my thoughts when I do.

So far I have gone with Seattle, Vegas, Durham, Westbury and last show at Port Chester. If you pick and choose from the Sco-Mule tunes you can put together a hell of a "best of." I am working through the 2nd set of the last night per Billy's suggestion now 🙂

I havn't listened to Boston yet. It will probably be tomorrow before I get to it. It has the only "Have Mercy on the Criminal" of the run and I think the only "Opium".
I'm going to look back over all the songs Scofield played on. I think you can get every song he played by buying only five shows... maybe 4. I'll try to do that tonight.
I think the Durham is a must not because of Branford as much as that "Afro Blue".

No way Billy. It would take closer to 10 shows easy I think from when I looked to get all the songs..

I was just being optimistic. I think I will end up buying most of the run.
I just listened to "Opium" and "Stratus" off Boston. I didn't realize Scofield was on "Opium" and apparently he plays on "Tastes Like Wine" as well.

yep
I was there. He came out at the start of Opium and played the rest of the 1st set.
On set 2, he came out during the intro to Spanish Moon and was there the rest of the show including the Encore. Tinsley Ellis was also playing on Get Behind the Mule. I think Ellis had the 1st solo in the encore. Scofield took the 1st solo in the other songs he played on iirc.
Just finished listening back to set 1 on my way to work this morning.

I will end up with the entire run. It was a fantastic tour and I am glad I got to see a show. I really wasn't a huge "Tastes Like Wine" fan before the tour. I'm really digging that song now.

I picked my shows almost entirely for the Sco-Mule, but had to add Vegas as this "old-school Muler" really likes Don't Step on the Grass Sam!

3/14 Stratus is fantastic!!!

So far I like the 3/7/15 Sherman Theater show a lot.
The Outro Jam to Stoop So Low is a Mulr highlight of any tour. Tight, fast, non-stop high energy percision. With a wah peddle through out! Probably my favorite part of the tour so far.
The Jeep on 35 is solid on both 3/7/15 and 3/13/15 and they are both different. Sco and Warren are both mellowed on 3/7 and Danny is and edge better on 3/13 but they are both great due to Warren: 3/13 he builds to a ferocious climax-solo; 3/7 gets a better "in the moment" solo in that he starts off mixing in some slide which keeps it mellow (but moving) and after he builds his solo to the climax, he peaks with less speed and "wow" riffs but finds himself peaking with the outro riff to Dickey's Blue Sky solo. Very nicely done. It sounds as if he just found himself there and the riff just started coming out via on the spot inspiration. Cool.
Love the Kind of Bird from both 3/7 and 3/13. I Think the second part (Begining with Danny's 2nd solo) is better on 3/7 (the middle power chord part is a bit messy) but the first part is better 3/13. Both very much worth hearing.
The 3/13 Ricking Horse is nice and I really like Riders of The Storm.
I hope they do this again. Soon. But I have to say, I hope next time they put some solid rehearsal time in. It seems like Sco got more comfortable as the tour went on and I'd love to hear him completely at ease and inspired rather than still settling in.

wow..they sound really ..good..together

Thanks for the insights Axeman. I need to listen to the Sherman Theater show. Is the drum solo leading into "Rockin' Horse" new? After hearing it a couple times it was really easy for me to recognize the song from the drum intro when streaming the 3/13 show. I hope Jorgan steps up in that intro for future performances. I really loved what Oteil added to the intro of the later ABB versions.
I'd definitely like to see another Sco-Mule tour. I'm happy the Uber Jam is playing the Hamilton this Spring. I saw them at the 25th anniversary Xmas Jam. This tour has made Scofield a must see when in the area.
I don't know how he fell out of my rotation. I saw him twice in the 80's and I saw the '99 Roxy show in Atlanta. Funny how that happens. I had a big gap in between Stanley Clarke shows as well. Now, when he is in the area, I make him a priority.

Love this tour...they are incredible...I've heard most shows...3/6 is special too...3/14-I look forward to hearing!
Been listening to the new album alot too...just amazing...

I was at 3-14 and it was absolutely mind blowing!!!

After one listen, "Opium" from Boston is now my go to for that song. Out-frickin-standing! Scofield just tears that song up!

Just downloaded the 3/14 show on a recommendation from BillyBlastoff. Looking forward to hearing it!

Seemed he was really settling in by 3/13, the night I witnessed. I was real, real happy, even amazed, walking out of there and find it hard to believe they topped it the next night but will give it a listen.
This run almost had the feel of an Off Broadway run that hopefully opens on Broadway for multiple night next March.

I'm listening to the "Pass the Peas" off the Westbury (3/8) show now and all I can say is - wow.
I'm slowly acquiring the whole run off Mule Tracks.
Really, really good stuff.

i picked the NC show with Branford, Boston, 3/14 at the Cap and Westbury.
I was at Westbury and I think it was the sleeper show. Doesn't look great on paper unless you like the Deep End era of the Mule which I do but it wasn't talked about much and it's a really good listen.
Best Spring Tour since the GD 1990

Of the two shows I saw that was the very best song. It was the second song Sco played on that night and it gave us an idea of what we were in for. The audience went nuts at the end of that song!!!

I have about half the tour. I was at the Indy show. My favorite show that I have is Charlottesville. My favorite song is Opium from Boston. I'll change this again by the time I post again.

I saw them on 2/20 in Oakland and loved it. But to me there is no such thing other than a great Mule show.
That said, I'll go off track a little bit and say that to me, Mountain Jam on 6-7-14 is for me personally the Mule show of all Mule shows. And it's available at www.muletracks.net. I'm not into the Mule doing The Doors, but that's the encore only. Warren's voice just doesn't cut it for a Jim Morrison imitation, to me, anyway. The rest of the show is so otherwordly that it hardly matters.

I am going to pick this up on your recommendation later today.

Please let me know what you think, Blooby. I think you're gonna be blown away.

If you guys are looking for a good MuleTracks, you absolutely, positively need to download 11/4/2006 Atlanta, GA at The Tabernacle. The first set remains the bar against which all other Mule shows are measured for me.
I have yet to hear a ScoMule that touches this one. It is effortless perfection; high energy, excellent wah-solo from Danny and then RIPPING lead from Warren. It never lags even for a moment.
Every song played is a top performance but even there, in addition to the ScoMule, the High & Mighty, Bad Little Doggie and Slackjawed Jezabel deserve extra props. The whole first set is like this as is the second set but the set lists from the first set is perfection. I have had this show for almost 10 years now and it is still one of the most played in my rotation by far:
High & Mighty>
Bad Little Doggie>
How Many More Years
Rocking Horse
Slackjawed Jezabel
Effigy

Based on comments here and some of my own listening, I put together a "Best Of Sco-Mule" playlist.
