As I age I revisit and appreciate some older bands I may not have jumped on in days gone by. Poco was one of those bands. They are of that California Rock(?). It's got it's own blend, soft, skilled, and normally very vocally adept. I saw them reunite for a show at Bethel Woods when they toured with Loggins and Messina a few years back. It was special as it had Rusty Young with other Poco founding members Jim Messina and Richie Furay. I'm hoping to see some more of these guys in the future.

This was Rusty's Poco and it was also a CD release show in support of Rusty Young's new offering Waiting For The Sun. A disc I'm digging, It's of sound. It's a showing of Rusty's skill set as a musician, song writer, and vocalist. There's a depth of instruments in the CD mixed with his vocal sweetness that makes it a worthwhile listen again and a gain and again (lyric in one of the songs). I'm in my 50's and have a daughter who's 22 finishing up college, My son moved out years ago and it'll soon be my wife and I left at home. Rusty's got a song Sara's Song (You Can Feel The Love Tonight) that plucks at my heart strings, A joyous tear forms with the opening line.... "I had my mind made up, Wasn't gonna cry as I walked her down the aisle" that gives what I need from my music, A connection, An emotional spurring jolt of lines and riffs.

There's a song My Friend that is beautiful and relatable in the same sense. Rich with subtle blendings of instruments mando, accordion, banjo, fiddle, lap steel. Nothing overstated. They played a few tunes from the new disc and healthy dose of Poco gems.

The opener Chelsea Williams came out for a nice version of Rose Of Cimarron with Poco and delivered a nice set of her own in support of her own new disc Boomerang. Very nice, She played solo acoustic with a friendly visit by Helen Hummel for a song from the CD.
When movies and sports don't turn the key, Good ol' reliable music is there for you to take on a spin. Fun night.

Thanks for the post. It makes me miss the great singing voice of Richie Furay
