maybe some have experienced this before-you're all set for a great show by a band you really like and they arrive drunk,totally stoned or insult the audience totally changing the mood of the entire show. I know having seen Sly & the Family Stone was like that-they fell onto the stage & their obvious little party from their dressing room landed on the stage & it just seemed they couldn't wait to get back away from the audience to continue partying backstage.I think some of these shows endup being less than an hour long too maybe cause of their partying. There were others too like T-Rex,Small Faces but none as rough as Sly,I think. But they wasn't as bad as these two;

I was talked into going to see a jazz guitarist-Bill Frisell. It was a full house and 1/2way into his 2nd song a guy in the front row took his picture. OMG,you should have heard him Stop the show, berating & ridiculing the poor guy for 10 minutes.then kicked him out. A little later some poor old lady knocked over her cane. That was our cue to move,we ran outta there so fast.

Actually another jazz guy-I got free tics for Keith Jarret, and a poor guy up front coughed-OMG,you shoulda heard Jarret rip this guy to pieces. The show was never the same after that. It kinda changes the whole mood of the night.Left early after that-was really boring too.
Sometimes these are kinda funny, but not if you've paid top dollar for the show and some people idolize these artists.

If these angry jazz musicians could just find something to cool em down, maybe alter the mind a bit. Ummm...

Saw Ryan Adams here at the Orpheum in Memphis a few months ago. We'd heard he's a prima donna i.e. going nuts if someone calls out Summer of 69, etc... This woman comes out before the show with an announcement that Ryan has Meniere's disease and will have a seizure if anyone snaps a flash picture. Then he comes out and his light show is nothing but smoke & strobe lights lol. Good show though.

I will add to the Ryan Adams post. Saw him in Salem, Or w/the Cardinals. Great show. Great songs. But the in-between talk was so insipid, I wanted to punch him. It was like he thought he was Dylan --but couldn't pull it off. He berated people for taking video or pictures and sat there and smoked cigarettes.

Saw him at a solo show and he had a book of songs at his feet that he was flipping through. People yelled requests and he played a few of the oldies. Then he started berating people for calling out things and interrupting him and "not being respectful". But they wouldn't have gotten to hear those songs if they "were respectful"? Guy is a tool --who makes some great music.

Saw Lucky from the Circle Jerks jump into the audience after a fan. Then again, it was a punk show so no big surprise.

I once saw Bill Graham call an audience member an "a$$hole". Supposedly the guy was giving Bill a hard time when he came on stage after Prince got booed off it.

Guns n' Roses on the Use Your Illusion tour in Memphis at the Pyramid. Soundgarden opened and they were great. G n R came out very late seemed and rocked. At one point Axl went off on a person in a wheel chair for leaving mid set. Jeez! Who knows, they probably just needed to go to the restroom?

hahaha,so we've got Waters spitting on a fan,Townshend hitting Hoffman,Adams announcing no flashphotography as the strobes flashing behind him,Circle of Jerks doing whatever it is they do,Zappa insulting the audience but everyone loving it & the jazz guys slamming audiences.

I just remembered another genre of musicians pretty rough.I was brought to a Ludicrous rap show once & he had 1 side of audience shaking fists at the opposite half yelling "F-You" for 10 minutes-then the other side giving the finger yelling "F-You".Almost caused a Riot! Nice. Then 1 time leaving a TTB festival show & stopping by to watch Snoop Dog to sold out crowd(10x the size of TTB's) rapping to his stage full of 20 women-"my Bitches & my Ho's..." degrading them and all the girls in audience swooning & loving it. Whatever!

I'll take the Allman Bros or TTB anyday-it sure makes you respect bandleaders who keep it all Professional for the audiences who pay to see them.

Saw Jarret once.
not rude, but odd. also dumb audience.
Jarret has a pet peeve about pics. Before the show, they announced no pics of any kind, ever, including during the "bow" at the end.
Trio plays a great show. they come out for an encore and bow. a couple pics during the bow. someone walks up with his camera and asks if he can take a pic. Jack DeJohnette shook his head no
2nd encore, more bows, more pics
They come out for a 3rd encore. By this time, there are lots of cameras going. Jarret gets up off his stool and says that life should not be enjoyed from a blue screen, trio walks off the stage.

I take pics at concerts but I see his point. And this show, when asked not to take pics, I didn't
