Pat Benatar
Nine Inch Nails

Although he's the best on the list, I don't consider the late Notorious B.I.G. to be rock & roll. He may, indeed, have been one of the best rappers of all time. I don't know that his fans would consider this much of an honor.

The rest? meh w/maybe a nod to Pat Benatar.

My votes from those:

Motörhead
Nine Inch Nails
Kraftwerk
MC5
Judas Priest
Todd Rundgren

I'm surprised not to see Wilco in the mix.

The original list left off T.Rex who were also on the list.

The pre-announcement fan vote doesn't count for anything so since Maiden wasn't on the nominees, that's all for nothing.

Who I want to get in....

Soundgarden
The Doobie Brothers
Thin Lizzy
Motörhead (Barely over Priest, I think with these two it will be one or the other, but not both)
MC5

Who I think will get in... (There are certain baskets they have to fill every year.)

Soundgarden
The Doobie Brothers
Whitney Houston
Judas Priest
Todd Rundgren

Good list of hard rock/metal bands. I really don't care about the RRHOF but all of that genre listed are worthy. Motorhead and Priest for sure.

The Doobie Brothers (I thought that they already were - how are they not?)
Soundgarden (Dying will give him immediate entry)
Todd Rundgren (Gets the "weird" vote ahead of others listed.)
Motorhead - (Lemmy is more popular now then ever)
Whitney Houston (Should be Pat Benatar as she is actually rock but....)

Not who I would pick but who will likely to get in.

Now they put a rapper in every year but they have to pass here. BIG - really? Aside from low sales, no tours, limited discography and didn't make the music - I guess he deserves it. LOL

Think they skip Rap this time.

Thin Lizzy would be my personal favorite of those listed.

If Maiden or Motley win the fan vote, then I think that dooms whatever chances of Motorhead or Priest getting in. I think Priest has long odds anyway, despite their history and what 'should be' versus what the deciders will decide.

My guess:

DMB
Doobie Bros
Whitney Houston
Soundgarden
Motley/Maiden/Motorhead (I think only 1 of these will get in.)

I don't think Maiden can as they were not nominated.

But I guess that is proof they should be.

I'm not sure what the original post is referencing with the fan vote, but Maiden and Motley Crue were not nominated.

I'm fine with the Crue never getting close, but Maiden should already be in.

However, neither are on the ballot.

I believe there is some poll for the fans about bands not on the list that you would like to se get in

There's now a fan vote option for nominees. Started after the Rush fans busted the door down.

They wouldn’t have to worry about that happening w/Kraftwerk fans tho, haha - they’re having too much fun fun fun on the Autobahn - watta hoot seeing them on there

“I’m za operatah w/my pocket calculatah
“By pressing down a special key it plays a little melody”

HOF stuff? Nope - & I love em

No bands here worthy of Hall of Fame.

depends what criteria you use.

In a logical world that included album sales, tickets sold, longevity of career and influence. There are some easy choices.

The Doobie Brothers - should already be there.
Whitney Houston - aside from the "rock" debate as others of same genre are in - she walk in easily.
Pat Benatar - Has all the success needed and made great moves in the industry for women.

Worthy? For sure and any debate is just opinion. You may not like them but their success is undeniable.

Iron Maiden should have walked in on their first opportunity. Just the sheer number of concerts and tickets sold. No one in music history is close.

Motorhead deserves it also because it's Lemmy. LOL

You're right about the Doobie Brothers.
Whitney will get in, but was she a rock n roller?
Pat Benatar... I don't know.

I'd rather see the metal bands get in before the rappers and the pop stars.

What about:
Little Feat
Grand Funk
J. Geils
Bob Seger
Bad Company

I have no idea who is or isn't in the HOF but I definitely agree with four of your five if they aren't already in. I would make Grand Funk a definite maybe.

Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

So there is a pre-nominee fan vote to see who fans want nominated? Obviously nobody listened to that since Maiden or Motley didn't get on the ballot.

I know there is a fan vote on the actual nominees that count as one vote for the artist.

So let me see if I got this right:

If your favorite band is not in, then the hall is a joke, even if they don't fit the criteria or another band fit it better?

That about right?

No the R&R HOF has always been a joke. The biggest reason is that they have no criteria. It is always been a group of buddies deciding and even then they make get vetoed.

Because there is no criteria or guidelines then they can enter anyone they want.

Example (staying away from pop, rap and other debatable genres)

The Sex Pistols

They had one record that they didn't even fully play on.
Barely toured or even made it through a show.
Truth is that they were barely a band.

Yet in the HOF.

If they added logical criteria such as album sales, ticket sales and longevity then they would not have been able to add bands that they wanted. And they would have had to recognize other bands that they did not want to enter.

It is just fun annual debate and doesn't mean a thing.

B.I.G?

C'mon 99% of the population can't even name a single song. Just need a rapper to be nominated.
